Hey I just received a warning about my share ratio being low. I am not a big downloader but when I do I always seed. What did I do wrong? Am I going to be banned forever because of this?

Unfortunately, seeding doesn't help your ratio if no one is leeching. This is likely your problem.

I suggest the following. Pick a torrent from the T-D front page with few seeders and many leechers. (XXX XVID is usually a good bet ;) Download only a few files from the torrent and seed the heck out of them. You only need to download a small amount, but will be able to seed this to many users. If necessary get multiple partial seeds going to max out your upload. Replace every few days with fresh, highly leeched torrents.

Works like a charm for me!

You have 7 days to build your ratio back up. Are you connectable? If you aren't, you're putting yourself at a severe disadvantage.

Glad to see you got your ratio up Sexytkat41! (I'm on T-D also.) You may want to build yourself a nice buffer to avoid these kinds of problems in the future.

I'm pretty sure that's not true. It works that way on some site, but they make it fairly clear that donating just makes you stand out, lets you invite people, etc. You're allowed to park your account (be inactive and not get your account deactivated) longer if you donate as well.

Just download a part of it so that way you spend less time downloading it, and can upload that part to people just as much. It's called partial seeding, it works better for ratio boosting.

Why does it say that I am not connectable? (And why should I care?)

The tracker has determined that you are firewalled or NATed and cannot accept incoming connections.

This means that other peers in the swarm will be unable to connect to you, only you to them. Even worse, if two peers are both in this state they will not be able to connect at all. This has obviously a detrimental effect on the overall speed.

The way to solve the problem involves opening the ports used for incoming connections (the same range you defined in your client) on the firewall and/or configuring your NAT server to use a basic form of NAT for that range instead of NAPT (the actual process differs widely between different router models. Check your router documentation and/or support forum. You will also find lots of information on the subject at PortForward).

To check your connection to the tracker you can use this port tester.

Summary:
Go to Portforward.com, set it up so all your torrent traffic goes through one port, input that port number into your torrent program.

The steps are straightforward on the site.

According to the frontpage:
Registered users: 57,658

When users are inactive for 42 days, their accounts are cancelled. When users are banned for not having a good ratio, their accounts are cancelled. You need 2,658 users to have their accounts cancelled.

Or you can find someone to invite you.

Simple, GET THAT RATIO UP!!!
Ways to do it (dont know how fast your connection is

1. DL new lopsided torrents to be one of the first to complete and continue to seed to all the late comers.
2. If you dl from another site were your ratio is not in trouble, dl from another site and then seed it to one your in trouble on
3. Buy a seedbox

i hope some one could help!
i am a power damage lover at TD but recently i have problem to connect to the tracker and at the same time to connect to the website torrent-damage.
the question is why?
how could it that i can not connect to the website and to the tracker , the moment i could connect to the website i could also connect to the tracker.
it is some kind of unstable tracker , could it be ?
or it is a loacl problem to my computer or even at my ISP.

2007-11-30 - Site Outage 2007-11-30.

Torrent-Damage was down for a few hours this morning due to emergency maintenance at the hosting company which caused our servers to go la-la. The problem has been resolved. :)

Maybe this was why? Are you still having the problem? Because I'm able to connect to the site now, and the tracker on my torrents is working fine.

the thing is lot of users of my ISP fake ratio so TD has banned all the range IP's of that ISP so, what can i do?
is there anything i can do!!!!!

Are you from Israel? Someone I know tried contacting staff on TD about making a friends IP an exception, but they refused to do anything about it.

Try having someone join their IRC and ask for you. I'm not a member here, so can't give you specifics.

Best thing about TD is you can easily build your ratio with pron and TV shows alone. I just grab a single rar from the newest "teen yadda yadda" or "Numb3rs" and let it simmer. I have had some torrents where I DL 14.3MB and UL 5GB.<br>
You can also download a popular TV show from another pay-for-ratio site and then jump on the TD torrent and upload. I don't know how other clients handle it, but uTorrent automatically checks the files as soon as you download the torrent. Just make sure the release titles and actual file names are identical and it should handle itself.
