My girlfriend's dad's best friend is Chi from the deftones (it is a real bummer that I don't like them at all)

It's pretty crazy. I haven't met him personally, because her dad is an ass... :-/

but w/e lol. My favorite bands are:

The fall of troy,
The format,
Damiera,
and Coheed And Cambria

I seriously do wish I liked the deftones though... cuz I could probably get VIP tickets.. (my girlfriend always gets vip tickets...) but I am not a fan of them... so w/e lol

It's the English rock group Queen, the late Freddie Mercury is there, the band plays on, but with a new lead singer.

Favourites:

Well, I tire of music, especially pop, but as far as it goes, Meatloaf made a couple of good ones, and there's a lot of fast rhythmic music I like, but if someone throws a best of my way it's good. Celine Dion is a good singer, but mainly it's rock for me. "Nikita" is good, the lyrics anyway, and even though I hesitate to say so - Elton John's delivery.

I don't want to list them, as people will know who I am instantly if they read this public forum. Really I need some more...

Someone is paranoid... It really couldn't be that obvious, theres also allot of room for deniability if they did.

Anyway back on topic, I like most styles of rock more recently alternative.

The more obscure bands that I like who are no longer together
Span http://www.myspace.com/span
(most members of span went to form Dog Almighty which seems like more of a ska band.)
The Watchmen http://www.last.fm/music/The+Watchmen/_/Stereo
Doctor (with Danny Greaves)

More mainstream
Our Lady Peace
U2
AC/DC
quite a few more those are just the first to come to mind.

Their in mine too, just below The Wiggles. Ok, I keeed, I keeed. If you dig'em, you dig'em. Nothing wrong with that.

I like to ask kids what their favorite color is, and then, whatever color they say, I loudly say, WRONG! The expressions they get on their little faces are priceless.

One of the reasons I do not debate or comment on anyone's preferences.

Music is personal to some people. I would never want to insult them by saying what gives them comfort (peace, joy, whatever), doesn't "do it" for me, even when I feel this way.

Just not something I "dig." doing.

Music is personal to all people. I'm sure we share a great deal of common interest in particular bands, just as I'm sure I also enjoy some music that would make your ears curl up and fall off in disdain. *shrugs*

By listing your favorites in a public forum you invite comment, and its not always gonna be positive. Get over it. Being insulted by a differing opinion on the internet by someone you don't know and could give 2 shits about is certainly beneath someone as eloquent and worldly as yourself.

All good choices although I don't think Stone Temple Pilots belong it that group. Sure core maybe but personally the closer they got to Jazz and blues style music the more I loved them for having the guts pull away from their "core".

Other then my minor nit-picking I'd say that's a pretty good list.

My alter ego's list. Other then STP.

Tool
Elbow
Katatonia
Died Pretty
Black Sabbath
James Taylor
A Perfect Circle
Jim Croce
Rob Zombie (I don't know why)
Janis Ian

Man I completely forgot about James Taylor. Just recently I started going through a nostalgia phase listening to music that my parents played on trips. James Taylor was probably one of the best and most memorable of artists from my early childhood, good times.

Nooooo... I meant Ian Moore. You will find his stuff nowhere in the P2P world (you won't find his lyrics hardly anywhere either).

However, you will find some live recordings here-
http://www.mooremusic.net/pafiledb/pafiledb.php
(you can download them too).

He was made famous by us music lovers in Austin, TX, but he did not like being compared to SRV.

So he decided, after we accepted his bada$$ electric blues style, that he wanted to do his own thing (which is cool), go alternative, make his guitar sound like a sitar and move to the East Coast.

However if you are interested, in addition to the link above, here is his official site-
http://www.ianmoore.com/site/

(for live show schedule and reviews).
He still plays the clubs in Austin and elsewhere in TX.

His first album cover was shot at Antoine's (a very famous club in Austin)...
the traitor.

Anyway, my favorite band is Bad Religion. Somewhere in my top 10 are Pixies, Radiohead, Iron Maiden, Cradle of Filth, Dark Tranquillity, At the Gates, Smashing Pumpkins, Faith No More, and some others I can't decide. Actually, I don't even know if those are all in my top 10, but they're definitely in the top 20.

This is why you and I do not have music conversations and why I do not discuss music much on any forum.

speaking of bashing, i used to hate Take That because i thought they were sickeningly pansy (goes to all the other boy bands too), even though some of their music was actually listenable. on the other hand, i loved Sugar Ray (remember them?) coz people used to tell me i looked like mark mcgrath (way back, before i inherited my beer belly) though i have to say now that they weren't all that good. ahh, to be a shallow minded person...
