new to winmx and need help connecting

when im in the network screen all i see is "connecting ,finding network connections ". its been doing that for like hours and im still not connecting .i need to know how to connect.

When you were installing winmx, did you get a test kind of screen where it said ( Trying to find incoming tcp connections?) if so, did it say after the test(your computer is unable to receive incoming tcp connections?) if you dont know run the test again and see. BTW, we need more info such as what connection you have?

ok ill try again .oh and i have a 56k right now.

turns out you were right and i set it right but it still wont connect .
im sorry i dont give a lot of info ,im new .what do you need to help.

1. Are you using primary or secondary connection under WinMX? Use secondary connection since you have only 56k connection.

2. Are you using a Firewall app. like ZoneAlarm? Make sure, your firewall do not block the ports for WinMX to upload & download.

3. Which Windows version are you running? If you are using Windows XP, turn the built-in firewall is off under Control Panel.
