Torrentleech has disabled invites indefinitely,,

Do you know why? Curious if it is OiNK related.

It's pretty obvious it's OiNK related, it makes ALOT of sense

Well, As it happened exactly the same day as the OiNK raids, I think it's a no brainer reallly why they did it.
I hate to say it, but I think TL's days are numbered (especialy as it really is a pay-to-leech site (with added advertising!)).

The siteop said he disabled them due to excessive trading of invites. That was his exact words. But I also believe he thinks the userbase is entirely too large.
With over 100,000 users, it's probaly the next big target. So I think he is taking preemptive measures to ensure the safety of the site and trim quite a few "inactive" users.

Well that is a very good site and I would hate to see it end up like oink did. At the same time, I absolutely hate the fact that private bit torrent sites have become about the "us four and no more" mentality.
But then again, what are you gonna do? The idiotic media mafia is allowed to roam free and until they get a serious legal case they lose that sets them back a bit, I think this trend will continue.
I think it is just sad that the early days of file sharing are gone. Now it's about trading invites to private bit torrent sites. Which in my opinion was probably what got oink shut down! Some idiot probably traded his invite to a mole and then it was all over but the crying for that site.
I can still remember when the original napster was around. There was no exclusiveness back then, everyone belonged to the same group. But those days are long gone. Now it's basically every man for himself.

Well,It is apparently oink related....Hopefully all of this oink hype will die down soon....

Well, the explanation they gave is that they had to make the decision due to a huge invites traffic and sales of them in eBay.
I wouldn´t expect they open invites in short time.

tl is the perfect site if you love demonoid, but other then that it is quite crappy imho. I've used it to grab harder to get stuff that I want quick occasionally, but usually torrents.to is better for that even.
think about what you want in a BT site. Everyone wants different things. If you want a giant tracker with tons of people so there are tons of content like a public tracker then TL is the one, but if you want to be on a priv tracker for another reason, don't even waist your time with TL. honestly, it isn't that great. it is all about finding what you want.

Its fuckin user related. Do you know what got Oink shut down? You guys. You killed it. How many people told you it was a bad idea to trade with people you have zero contact with? Private means nothing at all. Its stupid to use the word private as there is nothing private about it. Call it a members only site because thats what they are. The police asked for an invite and you guys handed it over to them.
Its liley that these "members only" sites are going to be the nail that buries P2P for many, many people. Using any website that tracks users habits is so dumb its almost like these people deserve to be culled from the herd. Sorry but thats how it is. Ive preached it for two years and now its happening.
No advancements have happened in P2P because the herd became complacent with a dumb, yet fast, way of sharing files. If all you care about is how fast you get a file then go ahead and get a lawyer now because that will save you time also.
Just because a system is faster doesnt make it better. The police let you guys hang yourself. Im pretty sure they think its really funny. Fish in a barrel.
Ive been mad at the state of P2P for some time now. Its been in the gutter far too long. No one seems to give a good god damn as long as they get theirs, by any means necessary, including trading your soul for an invite. You guys sold out OINK along time ago. Its all your fault.
Learn from this or its game over. It wont get any better unless people wise the fuck up.

I am with you here, Mels.
I feel most of these admins are complacent.
They might do well to read a book titled Art of War.
If anyone's read it, I don't need to explain. Those that haven't, Google is your friend.

Yea.... but so many people are too selfish to learn from this. That, or they don't understand what's going on.

I took invites off BC months ago. Imo, theyre more trouble than they are worth with selling and trading etc. In the end, they become worthless, as theyre not used as they are supposed to be.

Bout time some people talking sense. Ive been on other forums saying exactly the same stuff . and no one listens, still trading selling doing whatever to get into private sites. Its going belly up. and i dont want to see it happen.

This is, IMHO, the OINK backlash...
Everyone is worried about who will be the next one. And by next one, I do not mean the next big thing, but the next big raid victim.

Def oink related. Most sites went into def-con 5 after oink. alot shut down, registrations, invites, open signups etc. Other site were asking members to change passwords and email addresses if they were oink members.

Hopefully down the road things will ease down a bit and TL prunes a crap load of accounts and cleans out their system. Eventually I am sure they will reduce the number to a specific one but if they keep pruning and it goes below that level, they may allow invites once again. Same goes to many trackers out there seems logical but I may be wrong.
