can't find out device?

i got a problem,i plug it(usb) in,i can view the sign of usb on my pc,but when i double-click it,it shows"can't find out device"(on windows OS),my OS is linux,then after plugging in ,it says "Unable to mount media.","There is probably no media in the drive."...
what's matter?hardware problem or software?i hope anyone can solve it,thanks.

It could be so many things.
Maybe check your plug and play settings
or...
see if you still have a virtual dive (like Daemon or Alcohol) or more, enabled. If so, disable and try again.
