Hey this network is still going strong (if you like porno!) so I invite you all to join in! You could keep using that noobish torrent private invilte bullshit or join P2P in true form and spirit.

I hate BT and what it has done to filesharing, so...... before anyone comes in this thread saying how they love it let me say, SUCK SOMETHING, right off the bat.
Lets get back to the golden age, the fun times, the good old days of filesharing. Who is with me??? Do any of you remember when filesharing was fun and not some bull you had to beg about? When one could spend all day searching a huge network to seek out something rare or strange? Finding friends who share the same interest as you? Hmmmmm, I bet you nubs can't even remeber when multi source downloads were invented!!! Go smoke a pole now if you cant remember that awesome day!!!! I mean it! Go suck it now!
Bu bye!

Well the first thing you're doing wrong is not telling us what your symptoms are. That's a start.
Oh and yes, I miss the days of filesharing where everyone was retarded and used kazaa and the smart people used shareaza or winmx or whatever the hell was available.
But these days, almost nobody downloads illegally compared to back in say... 2003. I don't understand how the MPAA and RIAA can report losses because of file sharing. It makes no sense. I mean when I was attending high school last year, absolutely NOBODY downloaded stuff illegally. They were all afraid of viruses -_-
In conclusion, Society in general is too moronic and most high school students should be castrated for not knowing what a virus is. (A COOKIE IS NOT A FUCKING VIRUS. GOD DAMN!)
P.S. Who else hates it when people say retarded things like "I had over 90 viruses on my computer"?

I miss Audiogalaxy more than any of them. I did have WinMX long before Kazaa though. Remember when Kazaa implemented that participation system? Then for just a dollar donation you could use diet kaza to remedy the problem, making you a supreme being. Or was it the Kazaa hack first??
Does WinMX really still work? Is it a modified version? what else besides porn does the network offer?

...what else besides porn does the network offer? Long queues, low bitrates and fake files.

Hmmmm... you're asking me to forgo my 500 gb buffer at Puretna to learn a new method of filesharing? And I should do this, because...
Maybe I'm being too quick to judge, but, I think I may have to smoke one of the busty Poles, preferably Ines Cudna (she's my favorite!).

A method of filesharing that, up until today, I've never heard of. It's 'new' to me.

It's roughly based on the original Napster.
The napster protocol was improved on and called opennap (winmx still connects to opennap)
WinMX began its life as an OpenNAP client capable of connecting to several servers simultaneously, although Frontcode later created a proprietary protocol, termed WinMX Peer Network Protocol (WPNP), which was used starting with WinMX 2 in May 2001. WPNP version 2 was phased out as WinMX 3.0 and its WPNP version 3 protocol came into existence.

I can't deal with the long queues of WinMX. That's originally why I stopped using it.

Nice. ES5. The one that never was.
Does Soulseek still work? Hm.
carpefile
October 13th, 2007, 06:28 PM
Yes, it does. Whole different game than what the only ever used BT crowd is used to tho. It has the whole social aspect that ARES tries for, but is like almost part of the protocol in SoulSeek.
You pretty much MUST chat people up before they let you download from them, but it does put you in touch with a lot of peeps who like what you do.
Once you've been at it for a while, finding those rare treats gets much easier.
I know I'm not telling you anything you don't know Potato, just putting it out there for the bit newbs.
btw I still have a copy of ES5 around if you guys want to revive the network ;)

I use Soulseek so rarely that I always forget what my login is, so I end up creating new ones. Kind of defeats the purpose of any networking (in the social aspect). I always hated people that would create folders with a bunch of empty subfolders to make it look like they were sharing. Boo on them.

spamming a shitty p2p program is so 1998. luckily, that's appropriate, since that's how old winmx is
the napster beta 7 post is pretty appropriate though, since winmx is running off of god knows whose servers now. let's fire up a 10 year old program for nostalgia's sake!

This sure is a popular thread, even if some people did chime in just to be a jackass.
I still like winmx because it has tons of files not offered on the torrent sites. Yes, I do have to wait but it beats not getting them at all. I like the older porno because the new stuff is way to gonzo. I dont need to see into an open asshole. That doesnt do it for me. If you dont collect classic porn then you probably dont want winmx.
BTW, there is a new WINMX coming out, not sure when....It could be a long while but its coming. The auto server update is a must have add on right now.
