Classic crime drama following the rise and fall of a psychopathic gangster who is unaware that his gang is plotting to push him into one final confrontation. Cody Jarrett is the criminal mastermind who is pursued by a undercover cop trying to put him away for life. The film's ending, with the much-quoted lines Made it, Ma! Top of the world!, has passed into film legend

OR in my own words :

Gangster, ruthless cleverly gets out of prison for a train job by pretending to be in another place, he even does time for a job after confessing (can't figure that out myself). While in prison, one of the gang plot against him, the one that fancies his wife. So his "Ma" trys to help...anything more would be a spoiler.

Intersting tech thing: an oscillator "bug" vehicle tracking device the size of house brick. The police fit this thing, and two police cars with loop ariels twist round on top of the car, then by getting the bearing from the two cars, by using a map and a piece of string, and finding where they cross, you get a fix oon the car. Anyone else watched this?

Would this work, was it based on reality?

Is that the one where the guys in prison and he hears his "Ma" died, so he freaks out, and he's flopping around on the tables during dinner, getting up and punching inmates?

I get it mixed up sometimes with this other one I saw the same guy in where he smashes half a grapefruit into his girlfriend's face at breakfast.

He has sloppy eating habits.

It's not the grapefruit one. It's about "Ma". I didn't find it memorable at all, not even the last line, Arnold Schwarzenneger is different though, there's a spate of impersonators on the radio and TV. "Get to the chopper".
