Anyone else find "i'm new here" threads irritating ?
It's pretty obvious when someone is new, thats what post counts are for. So these threads do nothing but waste space in the lounge.
While on this subject, can anyone think of anyone who made an "i'm new here thread" who went on to become a valuable contributor to zeropaid ? Precisely. Most of them never post again and the ones who do post pitiful horseshit until our overworked mods are forced to ban them.
Anyway, I can almost hear my devoted legions of zeropaid fans thinking to themselves "i bet grab has a good idea..lol!" And as naturally as bears defecate in the woods, I do have a solution.
I propose that the moment anyone makes a thread titled "hi im new" or "hello" or "hey lookin for invites" we delete their thread and hit them with an instant ip ban.
This way we can run off these troublesome new users and keep the forums amongst the people who made them what they are.

Well...there is an official Introduce Yourself: Zeropaid's Ellis Island (http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=40043)..
I think it's just not wanting to take the time to
#1- Read the rules and
#2- Look for the correct section to post in.
Happens at all sites, though.
Still...

I merge 'em when people aren't looking. Sometimes. Yea, definitely lacking consistency there, sorry.
Instant IP bans seem a bit extreme for lame introduction threads....

I merge them all the time, whether people are looking or not, without permission.
In my underwear.

I merge them too, while touching myself, in Hunter's underwear...

Hi, I'm new here.
(Sorry, after that IP ban idea I could not resist.)
I just wanted to note that not having posted in here before, the forum itself quite encourages me to introduce myself; a fact you may or may not be all that aware of.
So I'd say maybe the first step should be changing the welcome message
"Our records indicate that you have never posted to our site before! Why not make your first post today by saying hello to our community."
to something not entirely that inviting.
(Constructive criticism -- how's that for valuable first-post-contribution!)

You left part of it out.
It reads-
"Our records indicate that you have never posted to our site before! Why not make your first post today by saying hello to our community in our Introductions forum."

I know, I misquoted there a little bit for comical effect. I hoped I'd get away with it without the use of smilies, which personally I don't like very much.
But seriously, I'm quite sure that people who start up meaningless "hi i'm new" threads would not take the time to read the welcome message anyway, so even if it was the way I misquoted, changing it probably would not do any good.
