For the best results on Direct Connect, you DO need to be sharing a lot. But there are ways around this..

You can get the Qage's Direct Connect Share Faker from http://qdownloads.n2v.net - There are bots that now double check your share but you can usually get on a hub for at least 10 mins before they find you, it's enough time to start a few downloads and when the bot does find you, you only get redirected to a lower share-limit hub.

It is wise to at least share something, if you appear to be sharing the limit but share nothing at all, hub op's will probably get pissed off enough to ban you!!

For those finding hub op's unfriendly, try the T&N group of hubs, I'm yet to see anyone get more than kicked for share faking.

If you can't run the Share Faker there is another way, just use the dos SUBST command and make 20 drives all pointing to your share folder, then add all the new drives to your DC share list. If you do this, make sure your filenames don't get retrieved in searches (replace letters with numbers, etc.), otherwise it's a dead giveaway when your name comes up with the same file 20 times!

This way, anyone can get on the big hubs. If this post doesn't get killed, I hope it's of help to y'all... L8rz..

I agree InspectorGadget. These people are like locusts. They swarm from one p2p program to another and ruin it. After the program has turned to crap they go to the next one. In my opinion these people are worst then the RIAA and people against file sharing. At least people against file sharing are trying to do it for a cause they believe in rather then just being selfish and leeching off users trying to help the community work.

I admit that I don't fully agree with DC's high hub limits and requirements but DC isn't the only program out there. Like many other users I also don't have a huge hard drive to dedicate to file sharing but I at least respect and understand that's how DC users want their community to work.

There are plenty of other programs that people can use. It just goes to show what some people will do just to help themselves. One of the main reasons I like using DC is that I usually know that the person downloading something from me is also giving back to the community which makes the whole network more effective.

If more users fake their shared files then there will be less files to choose from and less users to actually download from. But I guess that's ok as long as they are getting their files. I guess some users only believe in taking.

Yeah, pretty pathetic.

Bunch of leeches are worse than the riaa, If u cant meet the mins on certain DC hubs, use other hubs or use another p2p prog.

Makes me sick, over the long term this leech issue needs to be addressed in every p2p system.

Me ME ME ME ME, its called file sharing, I upload far more than I dl these days, there just isnt that much im still looking for, but it makes me reconsider my involvement when some moron like this reminds me of his pathetic existence.

If we all upload the liability is spread, but when more and more just take, it makes our community weaker and the liability far easier to access.

So wake up method, and look at your 486 with a 33.3 modem in your trailer and realize that you are an unwitting tool of the riaa. You make their job easier, and you have the same mentalilty they do, Its all about me, screw everybody else.
