No takers for Classical Music

Hmmm.... this is most surprising. In ZeroPaid Forums with hundreds of members, there are no takers for classical music.

I feel sorry for Bach, Handel, Mozart, Beetoven and their ilk.

I love, among others, Mozart (watch Imortal Beloved if you are moved by the man's music. It's a must see!), Beethoven, Johan, Tchaikovsky, Haydn, Stokowski...the list goes on.

So far I have found at least one person interested in classical music. Let me gently put the records straight.

Immortal Beloved that I watched only yesterday is about Beethoven and not on Mozart. It is quite good as a movie but not historically correct. The movie on Mozart is Amadeus that preceded Immortal Beloved by about 10 years. It is excellent but also not historically right.

I am not able to figure out who Johan is. Are you meaning Johann Strauss Jr. or Johann Sebastian Bach? And Leopold Stokowski was a conductor and not a composer.

Please do not mind my intervention because I am an old fogey of 77 who is passionately interested in classical music and somewhat of an authority on Mozart and Beethoven.

I wonder what the youngsters used to listen in the 18th and 19th century when there wasn't any pop. And even today what makes some persue classical music and others pop music.

I am very much a fan of classical music albeit a very specific style that being mainly impressionistic. I think, and this is strictly a personal opinion, the main reason classical music is not a very popular topic for discussion is that as file sizes go- orchestral/symphonic pieces are quite large. A single symphonic movement could easily consume the same disc space as dozen or more contemporary tunes.

It is more practical to buy classical music plus unlike it's "pop" counterpart is more reasonably priced. Visit your local "dollar" store and you can buy literay hundreds of complete Mozrt, Bethoven, Brahmns and etc works for less than $10.00USD So, there may not be many 'downloaders' of classical music.

From a strictly personal appeal basis, I think that classical music is not very popular with many people in general but that doesn't mean that an insignificant number of people enjoy it. I also think that many who do consume it are more conservative and a site such as Zeropaid may not be on their radar or meet with their approval but rest assured fans of classical music are lurking around here! ;)

As for file sizes there are movies over 4 gigs in size that are getting downloaded like hot cakes. Classical Music files in mp3 or m4a formats are not so big and even in the lossless FLAC and APE formats a tenth of the movie files. So your reasoning does not gel with me.

Never myself got hundreds of Mozart works for ten USD. It would be above a thousand USD as each CD performed by reputed artistes is between ten to twenty USD.

As far as this Forum is concerned, we only discuss classical masters and their compositions here and in reality it is independent of buying or downloading classical music. So why so few takers like us?

Specifically, I am fan of Ralph Vaughn Willimas, Percy Grainger, Ottorino Respighi and Miklos Rozza. I also like Debussy but to a lesser degree.

As for my logic concerning the comparison of file sizes between a classical composition and a more typical 3 min pop music file/song( I am using the term generally for all non-classical music)is not compromized. I stated an opinion/theory and whether or not it gels with you is no concern to me. As for my comments regarding finding classical recordings at a low cost: that is based on my personal experience. What you have or have not done is irrelvant. You seem to think that your experiences are the only that are valid.

I only responded to the question asked in a friendly and conversational manner. If doing so somehow was outside certain parameters then it was an unintentional error but from the tone of your response; I can understand why few would want to participate in this forum. So please continue to discuss the classical masters -alone.
