I have to log off of Vista to turn off utorrent. Logging off Vista to

turn off utorrent changes other settings on Vista. I tried version

1.7.2 & 1.7.1. Which torrent clients are Vista compatible? Any

advice? thanks

If you can, you might try another OS like XP! Vista is crap!

Yes, if you don't know how to reformat your computer or what drivers are (Or if you have the ones you need after putting on XP) you'd better steer clear.

Or get someone who knows how to put XP on if you ever decide to make the switch.

I run 1.7.2 in Vista on my machine and it runs flawlessly. What happens when you try and close the program? does it crash, not do anything?

I just tried Bit Spirit & it does the same thing. I think it is Vista.

Do you think I should do the sfc\scannow in RUN thingy or does that only work with XP?

Thanks for your responces.

I agree with you and do not like Vista but I think the Vista subject is OT here. We are discussing uTorrent.

If CB is using uTorrent 1.7.2 with Vista then she (he) should properly configure the preferences in this version of uTorrent to correct the problem she (he) is having.

If you can, you might try another OS like XP! Vista is crap!

As someone said earlier "try it in compatibility mode"

1. right click on the shortcut and go to the compatibility tab
2. Check the "Run this program in compatibility mode for" and select windows XP SP2
3. apply and close

another thing to try is turning off user account control

1. Click on start > Control Panel > User Accounts
2. Click on "Turn on User account Control on or off"
3. Uncheck the blox for UAC and click apply

One other thing is to Run the program as administrator

1. right click the program and click on "Run as Administrator"

those are some general things that help with Vista compatibility issues. Hope one of them shows progress for you.

I get this problem aswell on my new computer...with vista preinstalled, and searched online for help and got an answer that zonealarm causes this problem, still not sure how or why but for me it was the case i tried it without zonealarm and it worked without crashing and with it ending task in task manager when i closed.
