Do all trackers occasionally do open signups?
or are there some that never have and never will?

Good question ;)
I'm sure someone here knows the history of trackers better than I do (for the 'never have' part), but the trend that I've noticed since I joined the scene is that most trackers begin with open sign-ups, reach their predetermined limit and then occasionally open for sign-ups and/or allow sign-ups via invite OR become invite only from that point on.
Quite a few sites are invite only and will most likely remain that way for good.
The first few I'm not so sure about, but the rest are all either invite only and/or closed permanently for sign-ups.

Thanks, but no, I'm not a genius nor do I have any exclusive accounts- just good at cutting and pasting. Rankings enthusiasts may recognize my list- it's just a few level 3 sites and then everything from 4 up.
And regarding bitme ever opening (from the open signups thread), anything is technically possible- any site could change their invite only policy and open sign-ups, but I think the chances of bitme actually doing this are slim to none.
Actually, now that I think about it, Iplay was invite only for quite some time and then opened for sign-ups recently, so it does happen. I still wouldn't pin your hopes on it.

I agree with enter 8 about BitMe (slim to none, but anything is possible).
Here are a few private sites that I have seen open, but this was back in Feb.-
DesiTorrents
Myspleen
Snowtigers
TranceRoute
TeluguTorrents
The following were open maybe two or three months or so:
KG
RMVBusters
And these were open recently:
HDBits
TorrentBits (which has to be the hardest sign-up ever, if you have never done it before...cra**y coding <*mumbling*>...)

BitMe won't open up for a while.. it used to whenever the member count dropped to less than 15,000 but now there's 18,XXX members. And add Bit-HDTV to the list since they just started closing invites.

I have a few private BT sites...but I rarely use them since I have usenet! The speeds are so much better than even a private site and I don't have to seed everything back.
Not to mention "beg" to get into someplace like a level 4 or 5 private BT site! Screw that.

I have three level 4 trackers and I've been filesharing about 3 months and participating in this forum for 1, and I've never begged anyone.
