AP - Online video sharing site Veoh has pre-emptively sued Universal Music Group, asking a federal judge to prevent the giant music label from filing its own copyright infringement action.

Veoh does this thing. If it's a full movie you only get 5 minutes of streaming. You then have to download the whole movie. First though you have to register, and download their player.
So basically they lock you in as a member, then offer you movies for download. If what these guys are doing is legal, it baffles me why anyone would get sued for downloading a movie off bit torrent. There's places on Veoh you can get lists of downloadable movies. It isn't like a linking site that links to different video sites. Veoh is where the files are hosted.
Really what Veoh is saying is once the movie is hosted on its site it becomes theres to do with as they please. They've either thought of some loophole nobody's thought of before, they're ballsy beyond rationality, or they're just plain stupid.

Yeah, Youtube's butt is on fire, don't know how Veoh can get away with it. Actually many other video sharing sites, once they get big enough, Hollywood studios will come after them.:icon_salu
