View Full Version : Should Zeropaid enable HTML in the lounge

I want to post youtube embeds in the lounge.
Why should animal kingdom type crap be in the news lounge
just because for some weird reason HTML is active in that section
but not the lounge itself.
Should ZP allow HTML equally through out the site?

I don't think it should be openly available at all. Sorry man, there are bigger dicks than me.
Any donkey dick knows that.

Even then, I'd be embedding gems like this.

Nobody wants to see that.

Is there that much of a security issue that the lounge needs to be 'protected' from html?
That spider bite video is just plain wrong.

Opening up html is cool, but trolls with a little googling could probably find a way to exploit it.

HTML or a Url Link,
People are still going to post Videos if they choose to.....

I concur, to some extent, with all (and absolutely with Pamela).
I would however, love to see HTML enabled. Heck, why not CSS too?
Then I would be up to par for school!
I have grown accustomed to BBCode, but it sort of screws me up to type in it all the time.
I know, I should be practicing HTML all summer, instead of goofing off...
*sigh*
Utterly selfish.

I think it would be a bad idea to allow html. Some sites you can have these embedded videos auto play, and it would eat up alot of bandwidth.
People could attack threads they don't like by embedding a ton of these auto playing videos causing the thread to load extremely slow and not be viewable.
It would also make the site alot slower for anyone with slow connections.

I'll concur. Sorry, moneoa.

I say yes, but... with a condition.
On another forum I happen to frequent, it is enabled, but for moderators only. Yes, it would create more work for the mods, but at the same time it would prevent the autoplay problem, and also make sure questionable content is not posted.

I dont see anything wrong with it. If you dont have high speed interent by now everything should be so slow it wouldnt matter anyways.
Most sites do not have videos set to autoplay so embedded video doent slow anything down at all. The video doesnt even start downloading until you click on it, just like any other link. Youtube, for example, does not autoplay.
I see nothing wrong with it. It would make for a more enjoyable forum IMO. Maybe put the rep system to use. Anyone with say 3000+ rep points could be trusted to post good content or their rep points would be cut.

I think 3000+ rep is a tad high.
Besides, I've read here and there that rep points mean essentially nothing at the end of the day.
If this is so, why would such a high figure be considered?
It might leave out some that would rather contribute in a meaningful way, other than words.
Some of us are not eloquent speakers.
Sometimes, "a picture is worth a thousand...."
I dont see anything wrong with it....

I was about to recommend a merit based system as well, although I'm with Helena- 3000 is a little high. How about setting a minimum rep AND a minimum number of posts (like the trading post, but much more stringent).

The reason I suggest it should be so high would be to add a bit of safety in what gets posted. If its too low the mods will be working over time to clean up the mess. Set it high so it will be a small perk of making quality posts.
I do not think it should be limited to post count, only rep points. If you have a track record of making worth while posts this added feature earned will be incentive to try harder to obtain this privalige. I dont think anyone is listening so we are wasting our breath anywho.
Maybe set it at 2000 rep points. That seems very low to me. If anyone posts a bad video their points should be cut in half!
Has Jorge and SoulTLC gave up on ZP?

If its just like any other link then what is the big deal of clicking the link and going to the youtube site?
I think using rep points as any kind of measure of worthiness to a person is worthless, it would be pretty much making things a popularity contest, and benefiting people who kiss ass for rep than actual post quality.

rep points could be worth something. why not have a ZP casino where folks like mels with lots of rep points could be high rollers? That would even things out, don't ya think?

Still here bro, just been busy with the news. "Muckraking" is pretty time consuming. Though perks include many chats with the crazy cats at the Pirate Bay....:icon_pira
That whole "revolt" deal over an edited thread a while back really caused me to step back and become less involved. Really took all that stuff to heart for better or worse and sort of took it personally that people were leaving.
Do promise to be more involved henceforth however....the MODs really drove the point home that its essential that a "face" of ZP always be present to at least give some sort of indication that somebody here cares.

Just embed stuff in the news section. Not sure why a distinction exists, but thats my best advice.
Actually, first order of business is to get Jorge to end that god awful news feed shit....and shit is what it is.

I was thinking a moderated forum, Where people can post stuff, but it has to be approved by moderators before it's able to be posted would be the best Idea for this sort of thing. At least it'd give me more to do than ban spammers :)

Well some of us stood up for what we thought was right, or wrong - depending on how you look at it, I hope you can respect that. It wasnt anything against you, you should know that man. Thats why I PM'ed you a dozen times. I didnt want any bad feeling about the whole mess. Im the sorta person who will stand up for my ethics and morals. I may not always be right but I do try and do the right thing. I was sorta mad too but only because I felt my home forum was headed down a path I couldnt follow.
I like you Soul, I may Razz you and I may not agree with you everytime but at least you know what I say is the truth the way I see it. I dont pull any punches or suck butt and tell you what I think you want to hear. When I's puts down the pimp hand you best believe Mels only has the best of intentions.
Now come back and join the lounge crowd and let us know whats the best time of day......

Hmmm...... dont think that's possible w/ V Bulletin, posting HTML in the news section seems like the safe bet in the meantime.
(BTW, note to self, tell Jorge news bot BS = spam)

Now youre peeing on your feet. If you can not come up with a real reason why it should not be allowed why argue against it? Its more convenient to be able to have all the videos playable without having to jaunt all over the place to see them. In other P2P forums its worked out very well with no problems at all.
There is no reason to not use the rep system in a manner as to reward forum members in some manner. Is it a perfect system? Of course not, there is no such animal. Only the jealous worthless trouble makers will complain about a reward system. How about a little positive re-enforcement sometime eh? Maybe allowing high rep members this privilege is not a good idea. Can you think of a good way to encourage people to want pos rep besides BT trading?

Is there anyway to only allow it from youtube? I dont see how anyone could get in trouble from posting their videos as they are already nazis' about what they host anyways.

U can already post videos (i.e. embed) in the "news" section.
