Allright you lollygaggers so it comes down to one question.
Is it too late for this father site of the movement?

Does anyone indeed give a shit about Suprnova anymore and are there enough old school file traders that truly remember Suprnova in it's full glory (come on you know half of us don't really DL anymore, novelty lost long ago.)

Yay or Nay?

I find myself doing more filesharing all of a sudden. but on topic, I think suprnova just doesn't cut it anymore.

Suprnova was always abhorrently slow for me. Personally I wish bittorent index sites would steal a few Ideas from Newzbin or NGindex then I might use it more.

I don't think it will catch up to The Pirate Bay but the people who remember it may use it.

In a word: No

As to the poll question of whether it will succeed or fail, I really don't have a clue. I find that Torrent tracker sites are pretty much all the same, so unless they offer something REALLY unique or compelling, I don't expect they will do all that well.

Suprnova was fun while it lasted. But there's to much competition now.

i dont think either option sums up what i think will happen. i KNOW it wont be as good as the old suprnova, but i really dont think it will be written off as a failure either.

I don't even get the point... why?

Neither. It'll just be another random tracker site.

suprnova was my start with bit torrent - I am on private torrent sites now but I hope it goes somewhere but I suspect it will not.

The beauty of Suprnova was that it was NOT a tracker but a really well made indexing site. Think of it as google for BT except it actually worked. Unlike torrentspy and others...

If yall are referring to this article:
http://news.com.com/8301-10784_3-9754659-7.html

then I think it will be making a comeback.

"SuprNova will be for the beginners," Sunde wrote. "It's easier to use than most sites out there and we want everybody to be able to use it. We will probably also run a new java applet client on the site for those who do not know what a torrent is--that means you can press another download link and it will open a client directly with no installation and still download."

From the sounds of it, pirate bay will be for casual filesharers, those who obviously don't have access to top level private sites, and suprnova will be for novice beginners, 6th-9th graders I suppose, or those who have to this point been oblivious to torrenting.

bittorrent is still only known to a very limited portion of internet users (while that seems unlikely, its only because everyone on this filesharing site knows about it... go to other parts of the web and its unheard of) and has a lot of market space to continue to grow.

Once these things die, they die. I seem to remember people thinking Napster would come back and look at it.. Crappy pay service.

napster wasnt a good example. it hardly was the same thing. its like comparing DIVX (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DIVX) to divx (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Divx).
