Thanks. I downloaded it. I'm going to check it out. Providing it's user friendly, and does everything it says it will without "hidden agendas", or shareware limitations it's the freebie I've been waiting for. The others I've checked out fall short.

if its free now, it will be "free" later. this sounds more like spam than anything.

And...of course, it looks like you're right Signa. I just tried it.
Damn! I had hopes for this one. I really want something like this that actually works.
So, you open it up, and they ask for a registration code, which unless someone can tell me where it is, they didn't supply.
You do a conversion, and they add a "watermark". It's a big ugly banner over your video that says EVALUATION COPY.
In other words...I agree...feels like spam.

i just looked at all of jincherry's posts. they all are in video converting threads. this is the first time he said anything spamish, but im skeptical as to wether or not he is here on personal or business matters.

The thing's supposed to have a read me file, but I can't find it. Maybe the registration code is supposed to be in there. It looks like a decent app. Converts tons more stuff than Total Video Converter. Easier to use than Super. It would have been a good download for free.
I don't want to pay for this kind of thing, because I know there's going to be freebies out there soon all over the place soon. I'm cheap enough to wait.

Except again it's shareware isn't it? I click on a thread that says "Free" in the title, then I keep on finding myself clicking on links taking me to shareware. What gives? Oh wait I get it. It's free shareware, right? I never learn. FREE!!! (only $169.95),

I use free version of Any Video Converter, it is total free and no time limitation. It can convert all kinds of video to mp4, flv, avi and mpg. I think the free version is powerful enough for us.

The version of Total Video Converter I got tipped as being free is shareware with a 15 day evaluation period.
I checked the user comments on Any Video Converter at Download.com. One guy posts -
Cons: There is a three minute limitation in this "free" software.

What does he mean by that? Should I take him seriously, or did he make a mistake?
What is it with Shareware Video converters being pimped as freeware?

If you don't reply I'll assume you're that guy who's taking multiple names to spam shareware video converters as freeware.
Well, I downloaded the program from http://www.any-video-converter.com
the trial full version has a 3-minute limitation, but not the free version.
I am using free version 2.07

Amazingly enough, two minutes after your first post and not free ($29.00)!

It's just companies going for the cash because video on portable devices is popular right now. I use a muttly assortment of different converters, including Total, which I got from a friend, and I was using online converters for Youtube before I was able to play FLV directly.
Total is good, but it can be tough to set it up if you want to do more advanced things with aspect ratio or re-size. I can have it all set up, press convert and it will just fail, without a message as to why.
Over the weekend I finally found a program that will fix wmv files that have lost their seek. They are videos that play fine on the web, but when you download them you can still play them straight through, but can't fast forward or rewind, or the movie locks up.
What's needed is to fix the seek in the file, and again, there are more trashy shareware programs that will do this simple thing, and I did get one, 'ASF AVI RM WMV Repair' that said nothing clearly on the page I got it from, but it was a 10 day demo.. ;)
The one I found that really does the job and it's Freeware forever is Steeper, http://www.winsite.com/bin/Info?19500000036526 . Unzip all files to a folder and just run it, no install, it's great to fix long streams you might download.
A good place to look for video converters is on Sourceforge, http://sourceforge.net/index.php . Search for video converter.
Hi to Fiddledog and Scamps in this topic, it's great to see how many of 'us' there are out there.. :)

Search on SourceForge.net is the best place for Free software. Try AllToAVI free video converter, it looks good!

WHY IN THE HELL is this thread still open?
What do I have to f*** to get these bot threads closed and the bot banned?
Gut the links, ban the bot, it takes all of 2 minutes.

Just FYI, I went through and removed well over 60 of these threads at one point.
