are you running any file sharing programs? if it is in a shared folder ready for uploading, that will lock it

also try rebooting and when your computer just hits windows (all programs closed, ALL of them) delete it as quickly as possible, usually you can catch it off gaurd

I'm having the same problem! I think it is because I'm low on storage space, so defrag utility lock up the file so it won't be overwritten.

I uaually just moved the files that I still want to another folder, then shut down my computer for a while. Once, I restarted the computer. I just remove the folder with the file I don't want! That seems to do the trick for me.

Yeah that usually happens with files where the file names are really really long. The folder trick works or you could go find a file shredder off a search engine and that works too.

Also dont forget that if you using XP you should defragment at least every few months. So i would do that also.

chances are that the file is cross linked to another file on your hard drive or windows xp has mistakenly classified it as a high level os file and made it undeletable, boot into dos - dont know whether u have a win98 dual boot system but if u have it is easy if not use a startup disk or try pressing f8 at startup then delete the file from dos, dont run a dos prompt from windows as it wont let u delete it , u could also download a program called kremlin from mach 5 software which i have used for years and it will trash the file at the click of a mouse extremely fast and set the file size to zero. :bk

After 2 days, I installed the MoveOnBoot. It was very easy, I selected the movie, for which I had 2 examples on 2 drives. I rebooted, and they were deleted. Simply worked.

It was a 1 minute cure compared to 2 days of research.

Thx Lion7718.

Not a problem , glad to have helped
