Try installing a different codec, DivX.com (http://www.divx.com/) , or install the Nemo50 pack, it has something like 50 different codecs, but I cant remever where I got it. but you can serch for it on Google. If that doest work, also try a different player. Global Divx (http://www.divxity.com/) is what I prefer, but I am sure others have good choices also.
Good luck

perhaps you need the divx codec:

yep, you guys got it, you need the divx codec (i have the same movie), you might also need some other codecs for different movies, but i doubt it
get the light version of the nimo codec pack at http://www.btinternet.com/~nimosiro/
the full version is huge and is only needed for decoding movies
this includes divx (without the player), so if you get this, you probably will not have to upgrade codecs for quite some time, and will be able to play almost any type of movie

Downloaded DivX and I have picture now for the Resdinent Evil film but it keeps stopping and starting. The sound is fine but the picture keeps freezing and starting and going slow motion etc. Any ideas what is causing this?? I have tried playing it in Kazaa Lite Theater and in Windows Media Player but they both do the same thing and I tried playing it in DivX Player 2.0 Alpha but that wouldn't play it.
Any info much appreciated!

check your PM's
if it didnt send...
basicly i think your computer is too slow, i had this problem with my old 233mhz comp, the video couldnt be rendered as fast as the audio
divx was a good start, you will need that for future movies
and if im not mistaken, k-lite media theater is WMP in a skinned version (go to wide screen, its the same as wmp)

Try checking for bad frames in the file. Divfix and virtualDub are some tools to help you with this.

byte this sent me the filename for this movie a while ago, its great quality, probably the best rip ive seen (aside from LOTR), especially for its file size, there were no glitches at all in it, it ran smooth the entire movie
i have a very powerful computer, yet this movie seemed extremely taxing on my system (i deleted the movie, so sorry, i cant get the encoding info, forgot to check)
it is the resident evil movie on www.fasttrackmovies.com, try it and see what your results are, i still think his computer was not able to handle the quality

I've had some slow playback problems with some avi's encoded with Divx3 slow motion. I had divxpro5.0.2bundle installed in my 500 Celeron system and I had to set quality settings to low to get video playing without stuttering. GSpot reported DivX3 slow motion was not installed so I installed it and now I can play those movies at best quality settings. So it might not be a slow processor problem.

Btw, I think nimo is not a good codec pack. Had many problems with it.

i have had few problems with nimo codec pack
the subs part wasnt easy to shut off when i first got it, and i also had a conflict with WMP and one of the vob decoders, but i removed it, and it works great
its been a real life saver for me
btw, the divx 3 slow motion codec is installed with nimo....so it shouldnt have been a problem, but it is a possibility, out of curiosity, what version of nimo did you use? 5v8 is great, havent had a single problem (from a clean install anyway, dont try to write over it, uninstal first, otherwise you will have problems with it)

Can't remeber the exact version, the one available about 2 months ago. I had no previous nimo installations plus I removed any other codecs before. Man it was a waste of time. Playback was bad and the configuration panel didn't work. Heck, it was a real struggle finding the configuration panel to begin with.
Divx5 is supposed to be compatible with earlier codecs too (it requires other codecs to be removed before installing it) but I know now divx3 slow motion must be installed after it to get some movies to playback flawlessly.
