Is there any program better than autoGK?

i've been working with compressing dvd's to xvid and i've tried dvdx and imtoo dvd ripper but didn't have very good results.

i've been pleased with autogk in its results and ease of use and the fact it doesn't take up all my available resources, but is there anything better?

I have never really used anything else except xilisoft video converter, and media converter. It coverts everything, and works well/
