Bearshare running weird on new laptop

i just got a dell inspiron 6400 running on windows vista basic with kaspersky and it seems that bearshare lite is not running properly. the downloads are incredibly slow (the average mp3 file with 9 transfers will not download in under 5 or 6 minutes) and there are very limited results from all searches. i have tried shareaza and limewire also and neither of those works well either.
any suggestions on how to fix this problem?

Did you get the 2GB memory upgrade?
Vista is slow with only 512MB.

problem with the ram or Net connections

yeah it is 2gb. i will try the shareaza daily build thing.
another thing, when i treid shareaza it said that my firewall was doing something so i think that may be a reason?
