i updated the server list and when i hit connect at the top left of the screen it connects to only one then the other servers stop tryin to log in,once i highlight a different server it drops the one i was current on and tries to log on tot he new one

Well, from what I see, you aren´t doing anything wrong.
eMule only connects to one server at a time, so there´s really no way around it (at least that I know of).
If you´re worried that that might have an effect on your searches, just check the "global search" box in the "Search" tab.
Here´s some hints on getting a good server list and keeping it updated :
As far as servers go. Delete them all. Then update your list with this URL :
http://ocbMaurice.dyns.net/pl/slist.pl?download/server-max.met
Then put your settings in the preferences/server tab to
Check remove dead servers after 1 retries
uncheck auto update serverlist at startup
Check update serverlist when connecting to a server
Check update serverlist when a client connects
uncheck always filter bad ip's
Check use priority system
If you do this there should be no need to ever update your serverlist again.

Connected to only one server will not limit your search to just your server & will not limit your multi-source downloading, so don't worry. Servers will communicate with each other for you.
BTW, you can also go to TheDonkeyNetwork/ocbMaurice web site to download the Autoupdater & modify it to use with eMule. Or you can download my modified version emaule_servers_autoupdater.zip on the network! It will download severs list & start eMule for you automatically. Just read the readme1st.txt for instruction first! I added an additional source for server.met, it will give you more servers than ocbMaurice list.
I hope this will make it easier for everyone to use eMule. :-)

it only maintains a tcp connection to one server at a time, yes.
it searches lots of servers though via udp for all your downloads and searches.

Since it is not too small, I can't attach it on ZP forum & eDonkey/eMule network not very efficient to handle small file. I've upload my modified version of ocbMaurice's servers Autoupdater to use with eMule on my old Geocities web page. You can find it at the bottom of the page, make sure you read the readme1st.txt for instruction.

Stephen what it seems to me that you dont understand, and excuse me if I seem patronizing I dont mean to, is that the servers arent sources, they just search for sources, and the number of users and files connected to a certain server doesnt mean that your search is limited to sources within those users, any server will search through all users connected to any donkey server eventually. When you do a search, let it search for a good amount of time before electing or closing the search, I always leave any searchwindow I open, open for hours because it keeps on searching and Ive gotten many files that way, while earlier I got unpatient and closed the (often empty) searchwindow after a few minutes or so. Good luck.
