Firstly, I'm quite new, so I apologize in advance if I'm posting this in the wrong place. Please tell me immediately.

Someone from some other site traded with me a bitme.org invite code for my demonoid invite code. Now I have yet to find where to place this random string of characters in order to sign up for bitme.org. Would anyone give me insight on this? Thanks.

Most respectable trackers deal invites via email, not by a "code." If in doubt, look at the signup page of the tracker you're looking into - if there is no clear signup page or it doesn't explicitly state "Put Your Signup Code Here," well, you get the idea.

Unfortunately, you had your trust taken advantage of and your code stolen. Welcome to the world of trading invites. If it makes you feel any better, Demonoid is pretty much the lowest of the low in the food-chain of trackers (it is open for signups regularly, after all) and you probably should have been suspicious that someone was willing to trade a BitMe account for it anyways.

If you want to continue to pursue higher level trackers, here's a couple personal tips. First, when giving away an invite, always assume the worst - that no matter how nice they seem, they'll trash the account and leech like crazy. That's not always the case, but the point behind it is don't trade if you wouldn't want them to cheat and get your account banned too.

Next, check out this list of Tracker Ratings (http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/showpost.php?p=488246&postcount=57). I've personally always considered the list mostly bogus in terms of content, but in terms of invite rarity I've found it holds decently true. If you're trading an invite on that list, be suspicious if the other person is offering you one in return that's more than 1 level higher. Over that, and they will be "losing out," and the basic principles of economics will tell you they're gaining something to make up for that loss - whether they've just had bad luck finding an invite and are offering something higher to get it faster, or they're cheating you (sound familiar?).

That's it, hope it helped!

It wasn't much of a scam by any means, demonoid is open weekly and all of its torrents are indexed by public sites.

Not quite weekly, but it does open on a regular basis. You have to remember though that not everybody has access to an array of trackers, and there are probably many out there who haven't experienced anything more than Demonoid. Value is completely relative, my friend.

I've been scammed numerous times relating to online transactions, it's not the point of loosing the item/invite it's even worse when you misplace trust, those sorts of people deserve to diaf.

they have very poor collection of material, and u can buy ratio by donating which i hate. buying ratio is definitely not in the spirit of filesharing and leads to poor service.

i will still look forward to the day bitme.org has open signups, coz getting an invite seems almost impossible :icon_albi

I'm not familiar with bttrove but I am familiar with bitme and I found your following comment amusing "u can buy ratio by donating which i hate. buying ratio is definitely not in the spirit of filesharing and leads to poor service"

I wonder what you will say if you ever get in to bitme because you can do the same thing there. I do like bitme myself but I found your comment funny because you were cutting down one tracker and building up another over something that applies to both. Good luck waiting for bitme to have open signup.

This statement is entirely incorrect, plenty of 'reputable' trackers deal with codes instead of mails that can be lost/not delivered, unfortunatly bitme is not one of them, you got scammed :|
There is no advantage to using a mail system over invite codes, just FYI.
