despite your horrible attempts at an analogy, your technically not that far off. shareaza is kinda like a mac in a sense....

for one, not many peeps use it (yet). but that wont be true for very long.... (or so i, and many others, hope). shareaza is a great client, it just needs to get going.

Anyways, I see that you're not satisfied with Shareaza SB. Personally, I wasn't impressed either, however I presumed my connection speed was to blame. Are you on 56k as well?

3.06 GHz? Does that mean any Pentium below that number doesn't stand a chance against a Mac?

As far as Shareza goes I share 'za frustration. The damn thing sits there, who knows how long, just saying that the query hasn't returned any results yet. And that after waiting an eternity to find two nodes. It's got a nice look, and maybe future versions will actually be useful.

They are planning on releaseing them. Its possible by overclocking though.. My last post was poking fun at supremebeing.. hehe.. Im on college lan which those bastards block the gnutella port too making it difficult to get connected with any program. Some programs still work though..

Im not staisfied with the whole marketin attempt at "gnutella2" and everything which i think was a bad idea and threads like this is proof of that.

May be true for this new Gnutella2 but Gnutella itself hasn't been improved upon and that makes it useless. I tried Shareaza, and it connected to 5 G2 'hub's' as I think they are called. Quite frankly, it sucked. Still the same old Gnutella, for now.

Gnutella has had alot of changes in the past year, its constantly being improved.

And i'm sure thats true, but from my standpoint as a user, I see little change from all the times I used Gnutella(about a year and a half). Still poor search results and slow downloads(if they even start or have enough sources). If you wan't to use Gnutella, by all means, but i'll stick to something that works well. Sorry if I bothered anybody with my repeated Gnutella discussing. I'll shut up now.

Shareaza, is about the best Gnutella client i have used,.
That isnt saying a whole lot. Same problems, lots of results, TONS(!!) of sources, and downloads NEVER begin, or if they do, painfully slow, Same with Overnet and ED2K. You just cannot escape the gnutella plaque :(. Which sucks because gnutella has some of the best content, except you can hardly get to it.


And before anyone suggests i have a 28.8 connection, I have a 1.733Mbit connection

shareaza hasn't worked well for me either. either always queued or slow speeds, though it has a pretty good amount of files. but i also blame my connection for it, cause i'm on a 56k. (but the day before thanksgiving i'm getting DSL installed, sorry just happy) :-)

True you bring up some good points it also depends on the program your using, settings and etc. During the next year i believe that gnutella will adress everything you complain which yeah searches need to move to something other than the broadcast method. As for slow downloads gnutella still isnt very good for large files quite yet..

As for "gnutella2" its pretty much just a package of proposals/ideas from the gdf or from people who partcipate in the GDF. I think that this whole marketing mess is causing more problems than good. Since it was designed to change people's opinion but by looking around here it has failed to do that and it will take time for anyone on the gdf to agree to it because it has to go through the gdf with many questions, and most likly revisions.

Even if shareaza rushes it out i think it will play out the same way that xolox's propierty swarming method from a year ago.. Which is not good.
