I currently use Clonedvd 2 with AnyDVD running in the background to create the iso image then use imgburn to burn the dvdrs. i also only stick to good quality media, (tys, verbs, and riteks) , just wondering what others use? oh yeah i also use a lite-on 18 dvd burner with lightscribe, and booktype my dvd+rs to dvd-rom as weell with imgburn. id like to know other setups.

I like to use DVDShrink to burn my DVDs, it uses Nero's engine so it is still required to install Nero first. Nero has a lot of features, but DVDShrink works great with it! For creating DVD images, I just use PowerISO. :icon_thum

yeah i used to use dvdshrink at one time, but i liked the fact that colnedvd 2 you could delete things from the movie without having to drop the menu. also, i ran into some sony dvds that you had to use anydvd and clonedvd 2 with, shrink wouldnt open them. i still use shrink on occasion though, not often though. and i use nero 7 lite a lot as well, mainly for burning my mp3s/flacs onto cds. i like lite because it is so much smaller and doesnt slow down my computer like the regular one does.

I also use clonedvd2 with anydvd. The results are good compared to iso's you get by the internet...
What percentage in regard to quality do you usualy go for? Do you prefer a quality of 90 to 100% and not having extra material like cut-out-scenes etc. (as I do normaly) or do you cope with a worse quality to enjoy a alternative ending???

I use 1Click DVD Copy Pro with DVD43 running in the background and PowerISO for burning/mounting images. The big reason why I came across 1 Click DVD Copy was it's ability to copy episodic DVD's. Not too many programs can do this to my knowledge. I also like that it's easy to use (really does only require 1 click to copy a dvd) and fast (can compress and burn a DVD9 onto a DVD5 in about 25-30 minutes, I remove DTS, the menus, subtitles and special features to get better quality) I have a 16x NEC burner and only use Verbatim media for both DVD±R and CD-R's. Hasn't served me wrong yet. :icon_thum

yeah i like clonedvd 2 because it can do episodic memories, i like how i can keep the menu and just put half the episodes on a dvd 5 with 100 percent quality... and yeah i def strip everything possible to get the quality high as possible. if its under 85-90 ill use dvd rebuilder with cce sp because it makes the dvd amazing quality for really long/ high bitrate dvds. the isos i download though are great quality though, it depends on where you download them from. private torrent sites are where its at for those...

If I'm ripping a dvd I'll use dvdshrink, but if I'm burning an ISO I go right into nero.

episodic dvds are dvds of tv show seasons, with a lot of episodes on them. you need a special program to do those and mantain a good qulaity when duplicating them, as they fill up the entire size of a dvd 9. i use clonedvd2 with anydvd, and put half of the episodes and the menus on one dvd, then the other half with the menus on the other. its amazing, when you click an episode thats not on the dvd, it auto loops back to the menu.

Then how about nero vision, can't it be used for episodic dvd
jondrewfoo
June 6th, 2007, 10:29 AM
it can, however corect me if im wrong, you cant keep the menus and not keep all the episodes. which is a very useful feature. who wants to have pixelated episodes with all of them in the menu, or just half the episodes on one dvd with no menus to tell you the episode names or what disk it is... clonedvd2 does this, which is another reason to love it. its very possible to do with nero vision, but not with all those niceties. its either everything shrunk qulity big time, or no menu with some stuff.

I have used DVD Shrink with Nero whenever I wanted to make a DVD, but for most uses I find it easier (and cheaper) to just put the DVD on a hard drive and watch from there. DVD For Free/DVD 43 works great on most titles, you just explore the DVD, select all of the video files and drag and drop to a file you create on the hard drive. To make it easier to view the files on any tv/computer I picked up an external hard drive from Inoi called medrive. It has a media player built in and came with a remote, so you can use it like an external drive, add media, and play it back on any tv or monitor. It's really cool. I find that I don't have a need to have a hard copy of most media, but if I still want one I can just make one off of the external drive. I've saved quite a bit of time and money since doing it this way.

Currently using K3b (running under Xubuntu), but prior to my linux-move I ran DVDFab Plat. for all of my dvd copying needs, and Nero 6 because I hated Nero 7

For .IMG I usually use Power ISO, for creating my own DVDs I use ConvertXtoDVD. I've been thinking of using a different program for creating my own DVDs. I want to be able to make customized menus, something with effects when different options are selected.

does no one use DVD Decrypter anymore? only a few DVDs wont rip with that, and you can just use ripit4me to assist DVDD to get the job done. after that i just use DVD shrink. both programs work great, and they are both free. no extra piracy nessessary: and good for recomending to others that might not want to bother with hacked copies of anydvd.

well dvd decrypter requires more work than neccissary compared to anydvd, i still use it, but rarely, more for dvds that i want a complete uncompressed backup for as its still fast. i use imgburn to burn them which is an updated dvd decrypter without the ripper, just the burning engine! its amazing.

I used to use Alcohol 120% for all my image needs, but I'm starting to like IMGBurn a bit more for that purpose. I don't bother ripping and converting DVD's anymore, I just throw them onto a data dvd as avi's for my divx player. Much less problems.

Alcohol 120% for mounting games and burning ISOs, mostly, but for DVDs with movies I use Nero.
There was another program I used awhile back, and now I can't remember the name of it, but it was pretty simple and worked really well with my DVD player and didn't take up tons of space like Nero does.
does no one use DVD Decrypter anymore?
Quite a few gamers who burn ISOs still use it. I prefer Alcohol 120% to it, though.

I use Nero for burning mp3 CD's, images CD's/DVD's, data CD's/DVD's. DVD2SVCD for Xvid to DVD. Or DVDshrink for DVD to DVD5 :)

well dvd decrypter requires more work than neccissary
having the program not work as well as you would like is one thing, but saying that a one-click interface is "more work" is a little extreme. ive used both, and both are good. but what i dont like about anydvd is that if your version gets too far out of date, new dvds wont rip. anytime that happens with me, i use ripit4me (which uses DVD decrypter for ripping) and that always solves the problem. no extra background programs to clog up resources either.
i also couldnt stand cloneDVD because there werent any options for changing bit rates and it would add an extra screen saying that it was a copied DVD durring all the FBI crap.

ConvertXtoDVD, is great.
Except for right now.
I could sure use Nero Premium with a simple patch!
All these keygens!
What happened to just the good old patch?

Seems to me Nero Premium is nowhere near as bloated as the Ultra. I uninstalled Ultra almost within the hour of installing. I will never use it again.
It is a true pig.

ok i am new at this so i need your guys help. i am trying to copy the pursuit of happyness off the dvd i own but when i use dvd shrink the dvd has some copy protection on it that it can not crack so i got dvdfab platinum to burn it with but when i put the movie in it copies it but then it tells to put the media in but the media has to be double layer and all i have is single. so i need a step by step on how to copy the dvd using i guess dvdfab to break the protection then i guess i need to run dvd shrink to shrink it on to the disc i have. i used to use dvd shrink and i had nero as the burning engine. any help would be great.
