Hi all, there is this port forwarding problem with my Torrent client.
I've got 3 computers hooked up to my wireless network in my home and DHCP has been set to assign IP address starting from 192.168.1.100.
Problem is that when using uTorrent (or any other Torrent client) it only does port forwards for 192.168.1.100, i.e IF the IP address I am using is 192.168.1.101 or 192.168.1.102, it detects a NAT problem. Bearing in mind that I am always using the same port number. It will never happen if the IP address is 192.168.1.100.
I am quite sure that my ports are correctly forwarded, as it works flawlessly on IP address 192.168.1.100
Anyone can give me a solution? I have also attached a print-screen of my Port Forwarding page of my Linksys router for your reference.
Thanks!

you can't forward the same ports to different computers only forward to .100 and set your pc to that static address (hope this helps)

Right, I think that only .100 is being accepted in this case.
The answer might be found under port triggering in the tab next to forwarding. I used triggering on my Netgear router and it worked woof well, following my computer to whatever IP it was using that day.
That's a good router you have too, you can do a lot with that if you look up DD-WRT software.. :) Learn more first though.

Ok. So I have to do port triggering now.
Have read it from here, http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_triggering/Linksys/WRT54G/Utorrent.htm , to start the port triggering, but it requires the registration information and stuffs to activate it, which obviously I dont.
Any other way for me to do the port triggering? PMs are open for all to give me "good" suggestions. ;)

ryleco is right, your port number is your "utorrent application address" for specific IP address. you have 3 users with 3 different IP addresses assigned by your DHCP router. To port forward your utorrent application, you need to setup static IP address for different users. Because when you let DHCP assign IP address for the user, everytime you start the computer, you may have different IP address from what you have before. Thus, when you already port forward, the port forwarding options may forward the port to unintended user. blah blah blah blah
I just show this as an example,
I've tried your linksys router before, that was quite awesome router, when already port forwarded, it found the route to destination peer better than two other routers i've ever used.
Assume, the 3 users have static IP addresses like this:
- 192.168.1.136
- 192.168.1.137
- 192.168.1.138
you can refer to this to setup static IP http://www.portforward.com/networking/staticip.htm
and each of them have "utorrent listening port" (as shown in each utorrent application for each users/ or you can adjust it by yourself) such this:
- 192.168.1.136 - 17206
- 192.168.1.137 - 53000
- 192.168.1.138 - 53999
all you have to do is set start port and end port 17206 for 192.168.1.136
set start port and end port 53000 for 192.168.1.137
set start port and end port 53999 for 192.168.1.138
you suppose to have white tick in green circle in your utorrent application for each user
Case closed

Try this page too, triggering for a Linksys router:
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_triggering/Linksys/WRT54G/default.htm
Notice that there's no place to enter your computer's IP address on the triggering page. That's because the port will open properly no matter what IP (.100, .101, etc.) that you log on with.
I know that you're getting a lot of info right now, and to add even more confusion, there's also Upnp forwarding, where you wouldn't even need to set anything in the router at all, because Utorrent can request to the router that a port be opened for it to use. Upnp is only for Windows XP users, as far as I know.
Port triggering and Upnp is supposed to be safer, because then certain of the router's ports are only open while you're using torrent. All you probably need is one port number in use per computer, see Cory's example above. It's simpler, and in theory it should be safer.
I know that all of this forwarding and opening ports seems like lots of trouble, but closed ports are for safety, part of a firewall that helps to protect your computer when it's on the net. I think that having a router with a firewall is so important, I try to get folks to use one, even if they only have one computer.

Hmmm, i think you'll be choked by case "information overload" :icon_pira
just a mere suggestion, choose the most convenient way for you first, then you try another if you want :drunken_s
I also think the port triggering is also convenient for your torrent port forwarding, It is simpler for your need to port forward 3 users, because just like boomer said the port will be opened properly no matter your IP address assigned by your DHCP, so u do not need setup static IP.

Yea, its a little information overload ATM, but its alright, cause having more information is much better than no information at all.
Ok. So I will start by doing port triggering first, if it does not work out for me, I will try setting to a static IP.
The first question, what value should I enter in the "Start Port" and "End Port" of the Triggered Range?
