It's been a while since I toyed around w/different ones, but I remember foobar being a decent option. I remember it being kind of ugly, but it sounded better than winamp.

some i like:

Foobar2000 is an advanced audio player for the Windows platform. Some of the basic features include full unicode support, ReplayGain support and native support for several popular audio formats.

1by1 is a small, fast and handy audio player which is not only small: it provides a smart and versatile environment to handle your file collection and listen to your tracks - with no need for playlists or databases.

JLC's Media Player is a cute little media player with M3U playlist support.
It's designed to be simple and easy to understand and not contain all that stupid features you'll never use.
And that's why it's only 29kb big.

IrfanView, VLC or Media Player Classic are nice to use if you already have them installed and use them for other formats
(You can even use winamp .wsz classic skins on VLC)

Thanx guyz ... those options are definately worth a try. I have VLC installed, for all
my movie viewing on my tele via TV Out. Media Player Classic is useful for outta-sync
rips ... both work like a charm :)

foobar2000 is def a good bet. i use it because it uses almost no memory and the output quality is amazing and it plays everything, including flac! it can even rip stuff from cds but i reccommend using EAC for that.

For single files I use Media Player Classic with FFDshow as the codec pack so it will play downloaded movies and TV plus .flv video files saved from Youtube.

I like VUplayer for full albums. I drop the files or folders in there and it puts them in a list and then can play them through or randomly. One of the things I really dig about it is the auto cross fade where one song is blended into another, it sounds like a real DJ is playing songs like on the radio.

I've actually used VUplayer for home broadcasting and it's almost perfect, it's tight and I rarely hear a bad mix. I don't mean to bark that it does beat matching, it sounds more like a pop DJ, keeping the gaps between tracks away.

Just downloaded Foobar2000 and VUPlayer ... gonna give em a try.
I use EAC / LAME 3.97 Final for ripping/encoding, and Ableton Live for
DJ/Remixing etc...

Just got ripped off out of a bitmetv account i had that was very valuable with a 170 gig buffer. I traded [email protected] (vishal_01 on zeropaid.com forums) my account for a FTN invite he also also has a email at [email protected]

I used the markup method and everything he sent me screenshots but he just plain and simply didnt send the invite! This guys is a scammer do not trade or deal with him...
