If you like going nowhere and being pissed off. I waited almost a year for this movie and how the heck people call it the Coen Bros best is beyond me. Its not even close. It does have some cool points but the sotry falls flat in the final act.

Its by the guy who wrote and directed Donnie Darko, which I love, so if you found that one strange this one will blow your doors off. 2001: A Space Odyssey. The last time I saw this one, I must have been about six years old. I can't tell you how many times I got out of bed in the middle of the night to find my old man in the living room eating bowl after bowl of ice cream and watching flicks like that on Betamax. Pretty sure he was a midnight toker. Anyways, great movie!

I watched two yesterday.
The first was Charlie Wilson's War (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472062/) and it was outstanding, even if the subject matter is dismal, and about yet another of America's screw ups.
Based on a true story, the movie is about a congressman that hails from my own East area of Texas.
Charlie Wilson was a man whore with a heart of gold. He decided to arm the Afghanistan's against Russia after some prompting from a very rich lady friend in Houston.
I will go no further except to say that Tom Hanks plays a fairly good Texas accent. Much more so than Julia Roberts. He shows his arse. I have thought he was incredibly talented since I first saw him on "Bosom Buddies," and he has not ceased to amaze me.
The second one was Juno and as always Ellen Page really shines. I have been watching her rise to stardom since Hard Candy. The movie also has my favorite bad guy from Oz, J. K. Simmons playing her dad.
Being that the movie is about teen pregnancy, I found it disturbing, but also very funny and slightly sweet.

Yeah, I have a lot of old movies I need to catch up on.
Movie sucked IMO. not to say i hated it, or felt let down, but it was just too far-fetched. it's an action movie, so i can give it tons of leeway, but when no one listens to the main character even though he's obviously right, it just started to seem like all the good guys were out against the hero as well. I guess its easy to suspend disbelief of things like unlimited ammo clips, 2 minute timer grenades, and shrapnelless explosions, but when the police chief sits around with his thumb up his ass while the only man with any clue as to what is going on is screaming at the top of his lungs, then boots the hero out of the room, i get a bit incredulous.

BOBBY STORK, a beer guzzling widower, runs into his old friend MARK , an out of work doctor who has resorted to making crystal meth to pay the bills. Bobby discusses Mark's problem with their mutual friends LAITH, an uptight guy who's packed on a few pounds but somehow lucked into landing a beautiful girlfriend and HUTTO, a soon-to-be father and the most together out of the four. The friends decide to give Mark the throwing stars they played with as kids to bring him back to reality.
Laith is outraged when he finds out Mark has been selling crystal meth to REED, a drug dealer involved in animal porn. On their way to drop off the throwing stars at Mark’s house, Laith and Bobby happen to pass by Reed’s car, filled to the brim with his “actors.” Laith can’t pass up the opportunity and frees the animals, loosing a throwing star in the process."

The Tattooist (2007) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0817228/)
WoW. I was expecting this movie to be a remake of Tattoo (1981) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083178/) with James Woods.
Boy, was I wrong.
I chose it because of it's name (those of you with tatu's will understand).
This movie was well made (not saying Tattoo wasn't. I LoVe James Woods), and it's plot compelling.
The leading man, Jason Behr, was in The Grudge and 30 Days of Nights. I expect more to come from this talented actor.

Wall-E.
Very light on the dialogue, and definitely has some very strong messages about consumerism, ecology, and the benefits of activity.
Very good family flick, very good even just in general.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre - The Beginning
Definitely falls into the same ol' BS rehash genre, where even the "shock" gore induces a yawn out of the most squeamish of viewers. I ejected the disc 3/4 of the way through.
Can anyone recommend any *good* horror flicks?

You could check out the 8 Films to Die For (http://www.horrorfestonline.com/).
I have seen most all of them and they are pretty good.
There is another series, but I can't think of the name. It's 2:15 in the a.m. and my thought processes are fubared...
Touristas was alright.
April Fool's Day (08) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1018817/) was a hoot.

Anyone see Igby Goes Down (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0280760/)? I felt it was heavily influenced by The Catcher in the Rye (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Catcher_in_the_Rye).

Superbad, the cam was really good. Looked like a DVD rip!
Right after watching Spuerbad my 500G external crashed. Ive only got it to boot up one time since and it was very sluggish. It was completely full. Sad. I'm such a lazy bastard.

Awesome, you viewed the 0.1% Yup, HD's do get pretty slow when they're jam packed. Speaking of which, I should pick up another 500GB this week just for my comics and graphic novels.

Pirates of Silicon Valley.
I actually enjoy this film, probably for the fact that there aren't any others out there like it. Sure, it may have it's fair share of exaggerations and inaccuracies... but it's entertaining nonetheless. Personally, I'd love to see a film (not a narrated documentary) about the rise and fall of the coin-op era. I'm sure it would appease some of the retro gaming fans out there.
