I just reformatted EVERYTHING on my computer, all thats left on my computer is the operating system. But now I really need some drivers. I can't connect to the internet or hear sound because of this. I tried driverguide.com, but can't find any drivers for a sony pcv-rs530g computer. I do a have a few recovery disks though. Could the drivers be in there?

You will need to know the what kind of devices you need drivers for. For example, your soundcard, is it on board or PCI? If it's onboard then you will have to find drivers for your motherboard. Type the name of your MB into google and search the companies webpage for drivers. If it's an asus then go to asus's site for drivers. If you have a PCI soundcard, like Creative Audio blaster, then go to their site for drivers. It's not as hard as it looks. Google is your friend. You may have to actually take off the tower panel and look at your devices.

You may also download AIDA32 personal to help identify your hardware. It is sometimes useful.

I did not notice it was a sony. For proprietary models, most, if not all, drivers can be found on their site.

Please explain. You say you updated the bios, so where did you get the bios update from? If you have a sony computer, did you not get the bios update from sony? Do you mean you flashed the bios, when you say updated? When you say "the program" thinks it's a different computer, do you mean the OS thinks it's a different computer?

I got the BIOS update installer from the sony website. Then, I reformatted my computer. Sony does have some driver installers, but they check the BIOS before they install it. But since the installers are looking for the bios before I updated, it thinks I'm using a different computer, and won't install

What exactly are the drivers you're missing? You originally said sound and network drivers. Are they both onboard devices or PCI hardware? If its onboard then look up the name of the motherboard, and if it's pci devices, you'll have to google the device names for drivers. I am not the board expert here, but that's what I would do.
