oink.

it's hard to keep a good ratio on each torrent, but it's easy to have a good global ratio (juste upload torrents or choose the on with many peers and few seed)

Yeah i gotta say OiNK as well. It took me a while to find an invite and I'll admit keeping a ratio can be difficult but it's all worth while when you find that album that you've been searching for day and night.

Although it is hard to keep a good ratio, Oink is by far the best. You will find hard to find stuff there and if you really work at your ratio, its not really that hard to keep up.

i can't see why everyone finds it hard to keep their ratio on oink. I download an average of about 3 or 4 albums a day and leave them all seeding 24/7. My ratio is currently 2 and rising every day. In the beginning I uploaded about 10 albums to to get me going but now I just seed.

If it ever drops below 1 i'll just up a few more albums.

I think you should be ok as long as you don't go on a binge in the very beginning (which can be very tempting)

oink is bad. hard to keep a good ratio torrents die to quick. people are just not nice at all(Irc).

Exactly. What's the point in having tons of torrents if everyone is afraid of downloading for fear of messing up their ratio? And believe me, it is very hard to maintain a decent ratio. The reason is simple, it is a zero-sum game there. For every point above one your ratio goes, someone else's must go below one. Most sites have a surplus of uploading credits via special status from donations or 'happy hours' like at Pedro's; but not at Oink. Zero-sum games blow and make things unecessarily difficult.

I mean I've downloaded 100 times more music from demonoid than from Oink and I've never had any grief over my demonoid ratio. At Oink, I have to weigh every potential download carefully and I usually just say bog that unless its really special.

Oink is the most over-rated BT site out there.

Just because you can't figure out how to use it, doesn't make it bad. It's extremely simple. Seed what you take and up your own. I've been there for 12 weeks and I didn't struggle once. If I think I might or know I like something, I download it.

The problem is more that people don't use common sense when they join there and go on downloading sprees digging themselves into a deep hole. Another thing I noticed is that the people who struggle there usually don't have any real CDs on their own, and they don't bother reading the rules, FAQ and various tutorials that would help them, even though it's clearly stated on the site that it is not what you are used to.

You wonder where the extra ratio comes from. Well 2/3 of all people that join the site get banned for various reasons like not reading, understanding or respecting the rules.

Don't get me wrong. I think Demonoid is quite nice to be a member of for some things, but unless the torrents come from either the dedicated uploaders, or from people that for some reason weren't allowed to up something on another site, the speeds there pretty much suck and you can't really trust one seed to stay on seeding until you have the whole file.

Also the difference in the quality is enormous. Demonoid is a last resort for me.

Btmusic is great for flac your only going to get the highest quality rips there the upload policy is pretty tight can only upload from original discs so no cdr's or repackaged torrents from other sources thats a quick way to get banned.

Maybe you're not ready for private sites yet. If you just listen to the advise from long time members, then it's easy to keep ratio. Just keep the torrents seeding for long times.

i couldn't agree more. very rarely i d/l an album and don't get at least a 1:1 ratio. It just takes a while sometimes.

I don't see how people complain about maintaining 0.2 to prevent getting banned.

I'm on 3 other private music trackers aswell.
Easy maintaining a ratio.
At oink it's 2:1 so it's fine aswell.
But the commeny states "hard to keep a good ratio", not impossible only much more difficult there than on the other trackers.
Not everybody has a nice up speed or keep their machines running day after day for weeks.
People are hesitant to grab something and that makes it even harder to keep ratio for everyone.

What about the second part "people are just not nice at all".
I realize people just want to download but is even a common thank you to much to ask for?

oink is by far the best. people say they cant keep a good ration on oink, pshh all you have to do is keep the stuff on for a week tops and it will seed fast, plus just look for popular new music and download it before everyone else to raise your ratio, mine is about 2.4 on oink right now, its the best. people arent mean either, they are just strict about the quality of music and how it is uploaded. follow the simple rules and you are fine.

well I just try to seed at least 1:1 ratio for each torrents, I ussaly downalod the torrents with lots of leechers, so that file gets uploaded faster, for old songs that are not famous and Have low leechers, I just use online resurces. Oink seams great for downlading songs but I haven't tried it yet, I never tried to bet for a invite, cuse my culture dosn't tell me to begg for some thing, first ask nicely, if it dosn't work, just sntach/steel it form them. I gess with this behavior I will never get a account for a ince private site. But I am not a big fan of wasting brandwith,as my ISP only allwos 30BG in and out per month, so I just use pirate bay. It will be nice to see the diffrence between a private or a public traker.

No offence...
