how do you get the downloaded materail onto a rom or onto the ds to play it?
you will need :
a slot 1 pass key (to go in the game slot)
a cartridge (to go in the bottom slot)
a memory card eg. micro sd (to save the games on)
a card reader (to get the games from your pc onto the memory card)
I use the supercard lite, supercard pass key, micro sd memory card and a generic card reader.
I got most of mine at cheapmod.net (UK). I think it all came to about £60 but this was quite a long time ago.

it won't take long before you make the money back though. For around the same price as 2 games in the shop you can get as many games as you want.
You can also use it to watch movies and listen to music on your DS.

demonoid has some torrents for packs of torrents, DS Nation (http://www.xiredesigns.net/dsnation/) and NDS-Roms (http://www.nds-roms.com/) also have a nice variety. R4DS + EZ Flash 3 in 1 expansion FTW!

You can use that to download NDS roms, even though it doesn't seem to update anymore.
www.dgemu.com is probably your best bet to get the newest NDS roms.

you will need to patch the games you download before you can play them on your ds. Check the cartridge manufacturers website.
You'll also need a passme device which looks like a ds game and goes into the game slot.

using emule or any other p2p appz is not the best way to d/l. I would recommend using a site which uses file hosting as its medium for data transfer. Much quicker and safer./ Just my opinion.

Boshar, download Winrar from download.com
You can then extract the rar file into whatever format the file is by double clicking and then click Extract.
Rar is just like a zip file, but a different program (winrar) opens them.

My experience with ROMs in the past has been the fact that you tend to get loaded with ads throughout sites (and probably had a few attempt to dump spyware on my machine for all I know) It could be great if you find trustworthy sites, but otherwise, you risk quite a lot randomly going to sites finding ROMs - better off getting it off of something like emule in one of those "complete romsets"

I need a good recommendation on what Flash Card to use for DS, CycloDS, R4..etc.. anyone?

I have an R4, and it's pretty nice, but it feels really crippled compared to my friend's cycloDS. CDS can do save states and use HC cards.
I also VERY VERY strongly recommend that you get the EZ-flash 3 in 1 GBA card. It fits in your standard DSlite GBA slot, just like that fake cover does when you get your DS new. It has the ability to let you play GBA games, have rummble in DS games, and even use the browser rom if you have it loaded on your slot-1 card.

That sounds badass, can you recommend a good source as i don't want clones. Also I hear some of these things can brick up your DS.

Gameyeah is the only place I know of off the top of my head that deals with cards. I almost bought my R4 there, but my friend owed me money, so he paid me back in the form of an R4.
I can't stress enough how valuable that slot-2 card is to me though. when my friend upgraded to the Cyclo, I heard they were offering bundle deals with that too. If you can get a bundle, go for it.
also, I COMPLETELY forgot what the feature was, but my friend was telling me that some of the newer CDSs have something better about them. I guess it's impossible to tell who is selling old and new ones, but if you get a black CDS, it will always be the newer version. They originally only sold them in white.
I'm not sure what the risks are of bricking. I imagine that the original cards that had to re-flash your DS firmware were a much higher risk, but I just don't see how that is possible with the newer cards like the R4 or CDS. They pretty much get treated as a normal cartridge.
