I liked the movie as well...hell, it did win some academy awards. But, I do want to see the original and have it in my netflix queue right now.

Ripping off of other country's movie isnt that rare. Old Boy, a popular movie in Korea, was ripped by India. But hey copying is the most flattering thing. :D it just means that its that good.

The American film industry is running out of ideas. Thus, they remake foreign films as well as their own. I have never seen as many sequels as I have seen this year. 28 Weeks Later (sequel to 28 Days), Shrek 3, Die Hard 4, Spiderman 3, "Bourne" 3, and the list goes on.

What! Thats like saying a cum shot is anti climatic! You can't blow a much bigger load than the end of the movie. Yes, it does leave a few questions but if you think about it, you can answer them yourself. Wow, anti climatic! I just don't get that!

I would agree with hawkburn and from his list, the only one I'm interested in is Bourne 3. An' then I'm only interested to see if they can make 3 as well as 1 & 2. My first inclination is that they can't, so I really want a pleasant surprise.

Running out of ideas?
Just Hollywood?
Bah.
The whole world has been tweaking the same 12 stories for thousands of years. Of course you are going to start seeing similarities.

EC - You surprised me, inasmuch as your message tells me that somewhere you gained some knowledge about the Greeks Tragedies.

And various other surviving ancient mythologies, most of which were probably loosely based on other oral stories/histories.

If foreign movies didnt screw it up as much, then hollywood wouldnt have to redo them. How can they, if a movie made 300 million, and hollywood tried it on that movie. It would look like a lame attempt to get paid. I think it boils down to book rights and screen writers. They can sell it to the UK or sell to America even if its adapted to the movie, unless they sign a waiver or give full rights to the production company. I dont think too many people are stupid like that now days. I got the box set of infernal affair and havent watched it yet. Its hard to watch a subtitle movie since women dont like that sorta thing.
