How are private bitTorrent sites currently ranked, (ie which are #1, 2 etc.) and how do you and others each determine their ranking?

Is for a story Im doing here @ ZP. THX

well here's ranking maintained by buggyme and patriot foreve of fst, it is accepted widely as fairly accurate representation of supply/demand. some rankings are little off as they obvioulsy haven't included more recent wave of openings into calculation, but that's just couple of half-points around the middle. so...

This Scale Is To Rate Sites From 1 To 5
1 being the easiest to get an invite or account and 5 the hardest.
This has nothing to do with the contents of the trackers.
Ratings of trackers themselves are in the [#] tags.
Not all trackers will be in this list.
NOTE: THIS LIST SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN LITERALLY.
It's just to figure where each site stands (rarity-wise)

Getting an account at these sites are very difficult if not impossible. Consider yourselves lucky if you have an account at these trackers.

numbers in squares are tracker ratings, based on content, speed and pretimes. obviously content is somehow subjective, especially around the middle, but you can be sure those with ratings 4-5 are superior trackers.

its really a rarity scale...content wise some level 2 trackers are better than say level 4. but that is why the list has the content rating of each as well.

I think FTN should be number 1, because nowadays ScT hasn't got great pretimes. It only has good speed. Very less releases, and pretimes many times worse than TL, etc. So I think FTN deserves no. 1.

The level of the tracker on FST is solely determined by its rarity mostly. Many poor trackers are above level 4 in that ranking system, like FTWR and Revolt.

i know a better pretimes site than ftn. for example stalker ,cnc3 was upped before at ftn/sct/tl. but its a secret :-)

as argued before, pretime isn't everything. there's no advantage in offering scene release 10 minutes before competition if your seeders don't have pipes to deliver, it doesn't matter when do you start the download but when do you finish it, and by that parameter sct will get you new release on your hard disk while others are still downloading.

revealing their names is frowned upon too, they are private sites and wish to remain secret. reason is their reputation tend to bring more unwanted attention either from law enforcement or from cheaters/leechers banging to come in.

TL is very good. The only reason it's so far down is that it's relatively easy to get an invite.

Oink is by far the best for music. Again relatively easy to get an invite.

ScT is apparently the best, but I'll not claim to have access to it. I was talking to a mod/uploader at TL the other day, who also has access to ScT. Basically if you don't have a 10Mbit seedbox, forget ScT anyways, cause trying to keep a good ratio is a b**ch. They have Gigabit seedboxes there that overseed, and so even if you can get an invite (which can only be made by site staff, and hence is extremely rare) you need a seedbox/server connection if you plan on staying there. It's the best in terms of speed and often pre time, but it is also exclusive.

Now that you put it like that, I see your point. The tangible worth that an invite holds, is derived from the quality of the site, the content, and the community. And isn't that the point of ranking the sites to begin with, so you could know what a certain invite is worth for the purpose of trading?

Why? It's only based on rarity not content anyway. It doesn't matter if a site is great regarding content, speed and community. If it's kinda easy to get an invite for it, it's a low level.

torrentleech is easy to obtain so its level2

some trackers of low level is better than trackers of high level

Creating a Zeropaid Rating would be a good thing, and yet the format presented by Optimus_Prime makes a good presentation. There might even be a Forum for Zeropaid members rating many different things or sites used by those members.
I happen to believe that our opinions are just as good as anybody elses, maybe even better.

Personally i care about following stuff in order of importance:
1. Speeds
2. Design/site look/ theme/ userfriendly to use
3. Releases/pretime
4. Forums

I realize some do not care about 2. But i find it extremely important, why i for ex. dont like TL and love oink, but thats subjective.

Using "how hard it is to get in" as a criteria for rankin is wrong imo. I know a few sites with open signups which are better then some of the here supposed level 6-9 ranked sites. However the reason why some of the high ranked sites are difficult to get in is often idd cause they wanna maintain hard criteria.

Its what you fits best ofcourse.

Grouping TD with Demonoid is being unfair to TD. The only thing Demonoid has over TD is variety, other than that, TD is better with everything else, such as speed, community, and quality.

I should have been more explicit, and perhaps not categorized them as levels. In the list posted Aug.7 by Rick9 most of the trackers listed have numbers in brackets following their names. As Optimus_Prime wrote on page one "numbers in squares are tracker ratings, based on content, speed and pretimes" As this number seems more valuable to me than rarity or reputation I thought I would make a list of trackers based on these "content ratings". I should reiterate that these are not MY ratings, I merely reformatted them from the main list so that they can be debated and discussed.

I hope that clears up any misunderstanding.

I've gone ahead and edited the classifications as ratings rather than levels to avoid any confusion with the sacrosanct list in future.

Agreed. Pisexy should be a lvl 7. And TopHos should be a lvl 8-9 As signups are extremely rare and only staff can give out invites.

Fail. :icon_scra Are you joking! I can give you FB, CZone and Revtt now if i would so choose. They are very common. FTN, I only got (which you didn't list) because I had a friend. Even then bittorent is at the bottom of the filesharing pile. (well not if the tracker has uploaders with scene access)

well here's ranking maintained by buggyme and patriot foreve of fst, it is accepted widely as fairly accurate representation of supply/demand. some rankings are little off as they obvioulsy haven't included more recent wave of openings into calculation, but that's just couple of half-points around the middle. so...



numbers in squares are tracker ratings, based on content, speed and pretimes. obviously content is somehow subjective, especially around the middle, but you can be sure those with ratings 4-5 are superior trackers.
E***o[4] and U***[5]...????..What means this ones...post at least the complete acronyms of this private trackers....that's makes me too more curious than i usually do!!!^^

What do you need rankings for? You are not allowed to trade here and that is the only thing those rankings are for. And one little piece of advice, Don't go down that trading road. It will come back to bite you in the ass.

Good to see a history buff here! I study history myself. I recently dl'ed half a harddrive's worth of history docs and textbooks. Torrents kick ass! This is why I am getting into them (also I recently purchased an IPod).
