While using kazaalite have you ever searched for a song that has the word "girl" in the title?

How about when looking for videos, did you ever try looking for something and have your draw drop when you got the results back?

Sometimes the shocking things on kazaa dont even let you find out what they are untill after you have downloaded them because some ass hole renamed the file.

What am I talking about? The tons of illegal pronography that has appeard all over kazaa lately. I am not new to the p2p scene but I never noticed this disgusting crap untill now.

I have no problem with downloading 1 or .... I mean a shitload of mp3s, I also have no problem with downloading movies off of p2p and last but not least I definately have no problem downloading a legal back up of microsofts $500 Windows XP corporate pro ;), But I think everyone agrees with me when I say the sharing of illegal pornography has to stop.

Sherman should report the I.P. of these sickos to the pheds.

I don't mean to be rude but you choose to use the client. You choose to search the network. You are the one who ultimately decides what you download. If you don't like something, don't download it. Oh and there is a filter for adult material built into Kazaa/Kazaa Lite. Nobody is forcing you to do anything, just remember that.

In this case its still you who decides to use the client. I know that this can be a pain in the ass. But if you inspect what you are downloading closely(such as knowing what the extension of the file is and maybe previewing a little bit) then you will see less of this appear on your hard drive. But remember, you decided to download that file and put it on your hard drive. If you are talking about misnamed movie files, try http://fasttrackmovies.com for sig2dat (http://geocities.com/vlaibb) links to verified movie files.

Im not saying IP ban them. I think thats stupid, I think we should report them to the feds and let them get a good ol ass beating. And if nobody is going to distribute it then less people will have it. If there were no drug dealers, there would be less crack addicts.

Well I dont know what would be next but I do think music sharers probobly would be targeted. But is it really worth it? And fasttrackmovies.com definately does not have every movie I would want to download.

I know nobody hear supports pedophiles, so why would it be so much to ask that they have thier ip reported to the feds? I know everyone is going to attack me for this because they think arresting child pornographers would be an end to p2p, but think about it. Just because you may not able to steal terrible quality movies from movie companies who overprice everything does not make it ok to let pedophiles do as they please.

When you search with KaZaA the file is on the same node(s) you are on... A sig2dat Quicklink could be for a file anywhere on the network, but not necessarily on a node you are connected to, so it can take awhile to find it...

As to FastTrack Movies not having everything you might want, the links are from people like yourself (well not really like you) and the availability of any particular movie depends on someone downloading it first and then posting a link...

You might try checking ShareMonkey because the way I understand it, if you "support" ShareMonkey then it scans your downloads/shares and ads the movie/video files to it's database...

Hmm. I hate to play devil's advocate on these issues, because I agree, this problem has been hashed and rehashed on Zero and we only ever conclude that there are no easy solutions. Time and effort is best spent on things you can fix.

But a few thoughts, CCS.
First, this "no fed is going to give a shit" stuff is silly. Feds work in departments. It's not like they're some monolithic entity now saying: "ok, let's take some time off from tax policy to figure out what to do about child porn." I can guarantee you that there are feds (though maybe only a few) who's sole job right now is figuring this problem out. That said, don't know what they're going to do, unless the courts bend the entrapment rules for this.

I think you're right to be skeptical about the "porn rather than victim" angle. We are what we do. Every time I do something, I become just a tiny bit more the kind of person who will do so again (even if only due to perceived self-image). If this is a sickness, it's feeding it. If this is simply criminality, it's rewarding it. Not good.

Erm. And a little ridiculous to say to someone that if they have a moral problem with child porn they should have a moral problem with P2P!!

I know, it seems like this conversation has been had so many times, it's alright to be off-hand about dismissing possible "solutions" and concerns. But every poster that comes along hasn't necessarily been in on those conversations, so I think best to either not respond or give it the same care you gave it the first time round. Otherwise you're just going to spurn a new round of debate (like this) on tangential issues, when most of us, I think, agree that there is nothing for us to be done here. Just my two cents.
