Windows Genuine Advantage is an anti-piracy tool loathed by many, tolerated by some, and even appreciated by others. How you feel about it may depend in part on whether or not you've been caught in its snares: the "authentic software" validation tool is known to have falsely identified thousands of "pirated" Vista installs. I had automatic update advise installing it yesterday.
My laptop, the machine that loaded the message, has a genuine install [of course] that came with the machine. It's my school machine though and I just don't trust microsoft.

Good info, I don't have a sword so I don't think I'm a pirate but I won't install the WGA Notifications 1.7 KB905474 update.
