What's your favorit scary movie: i liked the first part of scream and i know what you did lastsummer (the other parts where not nearly as good!!!) and loved seven.

But my al time favorit has to be the silence of the lambs: this movie is scary from the first to the last scene: there are very few movies which are that!!!

So wich iis your favorit, and do you have any suggestions for movies i might found good?

If that movie doesn't scare you, I dont know what can.

The Excorsist made me laugh.....
Guess I'm one sick puppy.
Blair Witch sucked ass.....
Seven was good....very disturbing - anyone remember the part where that skinny AID's infected lookin' dude killed the whore....in an odd manner.

The only movie that ever actually freaked me out to the point of getting goose bumps was Kite - Japanese version they didn't release here. The ending to that was a mix of 'that's depressing'" "Hmmm the bastard got what he had coming" "What the fuck?"

Realm of the senses was a majorly fucked up movie....(Japanese...)

Funny thing is neither of those are horror movies.

Hmmmm Idle Hand's was funny.....not really scary though. (Nice Alba scenes... :shy )

Twilight Zone movie was freaky... Not because the movie was good but because the 1 dude got his head chopped off along with 2 kid's getting ripped to bit's by the blades of a helicopter.

I'll go with this old ass 70's/80's tales from the crypt movie...forget the name. But it was eerie as hell.

First of all, kid, besides Seven and the MASTERPIECE Silence of the Lambs, you sure picked some horribly tame "scary movies." Teen Slasher flicks these days don't really stand up to the originals. Here's a listing of flicks that you probably haven't seen but should. CAUTION, IF YOU THINK THE MOVIES YOU PUT UP THERE ARE SCARY, THESE WILL SCARE YOU SHITLESS. AS A HORROR FAN, I SHIT YOU NOT.

1) The Exorcist:
The 1973 Friedkin original still scares to this day, and the new scenes from the directors cut add some more frights. The scene with the girl plunging the cross into her vagina will make ya wince.

2) Halloween:
How could you guys not remember this??? No real gore, but man the suspence gets ya. Theme song is great too.

3) Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer:
THE MOST DISTURBING FLICK I'VE SEEN SO FAR. I mean, the scenes seem so real, and they never let you go. Loosely based on the real serial killer, Henry Lee Lucas. Not only is this movie, sickeningly bloody, raw, and vivid, many top critics like Siskel and Ebert say this is THE best and most frightening serial killer film ever made. The ending is simply one of the best endings in film history.

4) The Thing (1983)
The John Carpenter remake mixes gore, paranoia and suspence into a great claustophobic film. Watch out for the "spider head" scene, the special effects haven't been matched to this date.

5) Night of the Living Dead (1990)
This will freak ya out as the best zombie movie, period, screw the resident evil movie. In terms of suspense, gore, and a sense of utter hopelessness, this flick will creep you out.

6) The Shining:
Heeere's Johnny!!! I wanted to include another true work of art, one of the best Stephen King adaptations ever made.

7) Hellraiser:
I know people that can't even bear to watch this film cuz its so sickeningly gory at times. However, this film is just so damn well made and original. Clive Barker's masterpiece remains on many people's top 10 horror lists. The cenobites will freak you out when they first come out of the puzzle box.

8) The Ring (1998)
Yes, thats right kids, the Ring is actually a remake of a somewhat recent asian horror flick, which has no blood and all death occur off screen. But this film is regarded in Japan as its version of Freddy Kruger, and many horror movie lovers say this film is of course superior to its 2002 remake. However, I have seen the new one and its a worthy remake in itself. However, don't count out watching the original, cuz it truly does scare the living hell outta ya. By the way, expect the Ring 2 to come out soon in the US, since the sequels have already come out in Japan.

9) Last House on the Left: I didnt want to include this at first, but this film is truely disturbing. Wes Craven's 1972 shocker has managed to been cut and censored around the world and even banned in some countries like Britain. I'd tell you guys what this is about, but you'd just consider me sick for even mentioning it. I myself haven't seen it yet, but many tell me its just unbearable to watch sometimes.

And thats it, my list of the freakiest movies of all time.

Yup, they filmed on a set that was cold as hell and one of 'em died or some shit...I'm sure some of ya older ZP members have tons of stories about that movie.

BTW anyone see the twilight zone movie? The dude from that old ass show Combat got decapitated in one scene along with 2 kids. Now that's fucking disturbing. (Seriously....it did happen. They cut the scenes out.)

i am really not one for scary movies... why the hell do you want to be scared? anyways, i havnt seen too many, but i have seen a couple:
friday the 13th, the one where jasons body is electricuded and he becomes alive and terrorizes NY

event horizon: it was a gay movie really, but it did freak me out a little.

hous on haunted hill: stupid, but a little freaky.

that one where the peeps got called by ghosts to a house and a bunch of them die.... oh wait.... that pretty much describes all the horror movies from the late 1990s....

edit: oh, and lest we forget: killer clowns from outer-space!!!!

Killer clowns was funny as hell....

I know this is a tad late since it's November already....but how about a new thread....

Cheesy horror movies!

My vote..... Chud 1 and 2.....and that lame ass Italian movie the re-animator. I have this other tasteless Italian horror movie on tape some where....the place who made up the OP for it went low as hell...they searched the net for sick photos and used that one with the chick impailed on a spike (ass through mouth - ouch....) for there backround while lamer bitchs chewed on store bought raw flesh. The movie surpassed there OP logo thing.....when I find it I'll make sure an cap it. It's from the 70's so don't expect much in the way of quality.

eewwwww......i was gonna say Silence of the Lambs.....until I started reading the posts......now I can't pick one.....

The Excorcist cause I think I remember reading that it was based on a true story.....or based on real events.....

The Thing was definitely icky.....

Alien gave me some serious creepy-crawlies.....for days (nights actually)

and speaking of clowns......It.......*shudders*

I will have to completely agree with Krell,

But i still think the Aliens Series, 1-2 (and somewhat Alien 3)
Were the scariest damned movies i ever saw.

They still conjur up fear, and the monster is the absolute best looking depiction of a killing machine i have seen.

Pure, unfeeling, systematic, fight to the death, completely willing to sacrifice themselves no matter the cost.

Also, the first terminator was pretty suspenseful, (Not scary per-se)

I mentioned scream and i know what you did last summer because it are the best well known movies: they are tame, but a scary movie does need to have more than just a lot of murders and mutulations: it also needs a good story, a surprising end and most important: good acting.

This why silence of the lambs is such a great movie. Antony hopkins played Hanibal lector in a briljant way: and the other actors where also very good.

Thats often the problem with the more low budget horror movies: they only show horrible things: but lack a good story and decent acting.

Ive seen some of the original Teen Slasher flicks, and they almost al had very poor acting and stories in it.

Actually, Guido, 4 of the movies i told ya about, The Thing, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, Halloween, and the Shining are all films that were AT LEAST 4 out of 5 Star flicks as rated by critics all over the US. These are quality films!

Halloween was filmed for a measly $300,000 and was considered at one time to be the most successful independent film ever made. It features one of the most famous figures in horror history and you have the admit, the suspence and acting is top notch for a horror film.

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer had a budget of only $100,000 and is considered by many to be the best serial killer movie ever. Here's the proof from Roger Ebert himself "This is a movie that's an obvious candidate for the proposed A (for adult) rating. It is a chilling film that - fair warning - will horrify many viewers and is intended to illuminate, not entertain. But it also is a very good film, a low-budget tour de force that provides an unforgettable portrait of the pathology of a man for whom killing is not a crime but simply a way of passing time and relieving boredom."

SamJam

I think it would have to be the Exorcist too.... The fact that it was based on some actual facts makes it that good. Rent the directors edition of the movie. It has the making of that tells about all the things that went on during the movie. If I remember correctly, there were some people that did die while it was being film, but I could be wrong. It also shows Linda Blairs' deleted scene of a wicked spider walk she did...

...and remember the story about Poltergeist? That was odd too. Another odd eerie one was the story of a dead boy that appeared by a curtain in Three Men and a Baby. The image was there, but I'm not saying it was real.

I like a lot of the 80's slasher movies (how can you mention Fri the 13th and not mention the Original Nightmare on Elm Street?). Even though they aren't really scary... just bloody gore.

Anyone like the Faces of Death shows? Not scary either, but some scenes I turn my head on... almost feel the pain.

The scariest movie I thought was The Decent...where a group of girl cave explorers get trapped in a cave with these creatures that feast on human flesh. It was not just the gore that made it scary, but the way they had everything "jump" out at you in different scenes in the movie.

I am a BIG horror flick fan and few things make me jump....but this movie DEFINATELY DID! "They know how to make a scary movie"...is the exact words that my friend used when he saw it after I reccomended it to him.

Communion, based on the novel by Witley Strieber, starring Christopher Walken. This movie scared the hell out of me. It's about this dude who is being abducted by aliens at night. It is about feeling completely powerless over something beyond your control. Strieber's other 'sequel' novels never made it to film, but are just as good.

The book is far better, and scared me silly. The worst thing is that I could not put it down (any of them). I lost sleep reading them, then lost even more thinking about it. It messed with my head terribly. Strieber is an exellent author. One of the best IMHO, science fiction writers. If you like to scare yourself read this or watch the movie if you are too lazy to read, hehe. Any public library will have Strieber's books. He's pretty well known. Any good video store will also have the film. Very weird and freaky.
