if this is an absolute filesharing forum, shouldn't there be a section for one click webhost based sharing like rapidshare and megaupload.there could also be a section of good file sharing forums that mainly share through such services.if its only p2p to be talked about here then its fine but i really think there should be such a section, just broadens the filesharing scope and mainly everything that net has to offer to filesharers.
just a thought i felt like contributing.what do u guys think especially mods.

Since the rules wouldn't allow links to files to be placed here, what would be in this section?

not direct links to files but links to sites, blogs or forums that catalogue those links prolly classified like the trackers are classified here.a tips section could be handy too.

Cant stand rapidshare or megaupload, I have no idea why so many people use them. There are many better alternatives that dont make users wait or limit downloads in order to gain elite users. The first one that comes to mind is yourfilehost.

Mountain_rage what others do you recommend that don't make users wait or limit downloads? I tried rapidshare and it sucked.

Ive been a premium member of rapidshare for over a year now, i have never had a problem. I guess its a matter of preference.

Perhaps you haven't yet noticed the name of this website. ;)
Rapidshare just pushes their premium accounts way too hard.

well yes it does suck a bit but many a times u are able to find stuff on these one click hosts that u are unable to find elsewhere,so if u know of such sites,it broadens ur searchable database and helps in finding many of the rare stuff

Tackdady seems to have them all pretty well tallied up. There are probably others, I often come across some non English ones. Some come and go others stick around for a while. It seems like its a new budding area of the internet.

I like megaupload, you can win premium accounts for 2 days, a month or a year. I won a two day account once.

for rapidshare and other such sites, I'd recommend getting
Universal downloader.

I suggest placing a few ads on your website. Then when you have enough $$ get a premium account. You can make easily $50 in the month. Nothing too hard. Wait two months and get an account. Rapidshare has a lot of good stuff on there. I get ebooks (legit and open source only) and I use programs such as rapidown to get by the wait times. Of course you get speeds of only 20-50kb/s, but for ebooks its good.

Well here's the thing: One reason that I've found to use (by "use," I mean dl from) Rapidshare and the like are the only alternative in many p2p situations I get in - like music-sharity blogs, mixtape blogs, etc. But what definitely sucks big is the fact that I have to pick and choose carefully what I dl because you can only dl something like - every 7 hours. But direct downloads to archived files definitely rules the obscure music-sharing scene that I'm into. I like torrents and the idea of direct p2p - but I'd kill a baby to have a premium rapidshare account. Well...maybe I'd just come up with the cash. Whatever.

Pownce.com could be good, if a community based on it could be set up.
AFAIK, it doesn't delete files unless you want it to, has fairly decent download rates (I got 700kbps, so it's meh), but the only problem is that uploads are fairly slow and the files have to be split into 100mb pieces.

Well
i will have to speak on behalf of "the other side" as i am a big fan of RS
I think (and i speak for my self ofcourse) that rapidshare is the greatest file hoster service of all because
It is the most common file host that is used all over the world
The speeds of its servers is simply awsome
If you create an account your files are never going to be deleted (unless ofcourse they are reported by someone :lame:)
If you create a premium account and you keep uploading files there you can easily manage to have that premium account forever by using the premium points you get
You have a limit of 500 Gigs storage in your account (well there is this issue wth the 20 Gigs and the XXL account but if you are smart you can bypass this)These are some of the reasons i love RS
I am sure that there are plenty of other file hosts that they may be better, cheaper or free, faster but i dont think that they are all these together
plus they are not so widespreaded

I do find leeching files off of RS convenient from time to time.
Though for me, it's just a third option to replace free Newsgroups. My other two sources are generally way better because the files I get are very rare. Finding rare stuff on there is much more difficult, but more popular stuff is generally easy to find it seems.
