alpha and beta are letters of the greek alphabet which are commonly used to indicate order:

If you are building a program the first working draft of code would be called the alpha

the alpha that has been revised and fixed, is called the beta

once the beta has been given out to the public for bug-fixing then the gold (as some title it) version of the software can be released

the beta will not mess ur comp up, at least it shouldn't

litterally, beta is the 2nd letter in the greek alphabet. but that does have somthing to do with what you want tho...

basicly, the first version of the program, with bugs and all, is called alpha. (btw, this is usually pre-release)

one of the subsiquent versions, I.E. more stable, is called the beta version. this is usually where the developer(s) release it (atleast in small numbers) to the public, or a beta testing group.

usually, beta programs dont harm your computer. i have yet to run into one that has. unfortunately, the program may still have a few bugs. thats why its beta, and not final.

so basiclly, your prob safe using it, but if there is an alternate that isnt beta, or the program isnt very important, try to wait for the final version. whatever you decide tho, just be careful. even tho ur not likely to have many problems with a beta, your better safe than sorry.

normally, i wouldnt try a new prog, iusually only use the most popular. I, throughout my filesharin exp. have only used napster, audiogalaxy, morpheus, and(right now) kazaa lite. BUT ive heard a lot of good feedback on the new G2. do either of you use shareaza 1.7? is it better than kl?

Morningsun: Start posting more man....you give some good insight into things aswell as a good joke now an then.

KLSV changes everything from Kazaa and Kazaa Media Desktop to Kazaa Lite. It comes with Fast Track Accelerator Supreme Version, which changes Fast Track Accelerator to Fast Track Accelerator Supreme Version and www.speedup.tk to www.spydar.150m.com. Its out but there are some reported problems downloading. Try any of these:

A beta release should be to finalise and get rid of last few small bugs.
But! big fat BUT!!! the trend has been to release Betas that are really closer to alphas, in that they are bug ridden and can and it is very possible to mess you up, if you are not computer literate and able to do things like clean your registry and or delete and replace .dll 's

I used to jump on Beta's but now I wait for everyone else to do that. It is boring to clean and fix a computer constantly.

hehe... ya i was writing it at teh same time as u. the 2 posts are so similar that only a metally chalanged blind man (would that work?) would write it after you had already posted.

edit: oh, and the 300-700 posts for sept joiners? well ccsdude has about 700 right? hes the only one even close from sept., and hes been ridiculed for that... bordering on spam, but it really isnt, as he is helpful. and i account for my 300+ by coming to ZP multiple times a day, tho i am slowing down.
