I am looking for some high quality headphones, I typically listen to hip hop, rock and reggae.
Has anyone purchased headphones lately that they are happy with?
Links to product pages would be nice.
Thanks

Do you want little headphones, easily portable headphones? Or do you want big clunky headphones?
These little ones are badass, I have the E2c set... : http://www.shure.com/PersonalAudio/ComparisonCharts/us_pa_comp_char_earphones
Or Senns are damn nice too. I have little ears, so I like the kind that have different sizes for the earbud part.... but I don't think that's an issue for the majority of people. I have the HD 280 Pro's. They have fabulous sound, but are not something you would really go jogging with.

They are all fin in a similar price range, sound quality and fit. All reviews seem about the same so I have no idea which ones to get but thats my list. Don't forget if you go for those bigger over the ear headphones they suck more juice from your battery.

Maxell Noise Cancellation NC-III are superb. They can be purchased at Walgreens or Walmart for under $35.00( I caught a sale and got them for $20.00 at Walgreens). These phones have great sound and they work well with or without the nosie cancellation function turned on. In fact with the NC function activated it boost the bass and overall audio significantly.
I have the earlier generation Maxell Noise Cancellation NC-II and they work well too but there is a noticible improvement in sound quality if you can compare the two models side by side. I mention NC-II as I've seen them for sale various locations for the same price as NC-III at a rival venue.
The August 2006, issue of Popular Communications did a review of the "Pro Tech NoiseBuster" NB-FX Active Noise Reduction Headphones. This model is identical to the Maxell NC-III.

Agreed, wholeheartedly. If you're looking for sub $100 headphones, nothing on the market beats Grado SR-80s. Though, if you prefer closed ear headphones, Sennheiser makes some good stuff. If you need earbuds, the previously listed Shure's are great.

I got them for christmas from my gf last year, have loved them. They're never at my desk because my roomates keep stealing them to use. The mic is a clip-on, so you don't look like a geek wearing them around with a big mic stuck on the side.
They're also VERY comfortable. I did a 3 day LAN party with them, and could barely tell I had been wearing them after it. They deffinately stick to your head well, cup AROUND your ear (even if you have big ears like mine), and don't actually put pressure on your ears.
The base response is very good, but not overpowering. The overall clarity is amazing compared to my logitech speakers, and any of my previous headphones. It also has an inline volume knob which is very handy, and a 9ft cord (detachable in the middle). I've rolled over it with my chair several times and its still working.
Overall they're a little flimsy, but the best headset I've ever owned. Plus they dropped the price to $50 since last year (they were around $90 last christmas IIRC).

I spent a month looking for a good sub-$100 closed headphone. I finally stumbled upon the AKG K18 DJ's. Im listening to them right now and they are so great that they easily beat out a pair for twice their price. Over at the headphile forums they had their own 20 page thread.

This next one I use presently and it works fine on a PC but I doubt its performance on a walkman or portable MP3 player. So for bang for my bucK I shall choose the ones form the link above any day...

The Shure e3c's I just got are amazing. They are incredibly comfortable, I can barely tell when I am wearing them. On top of that my music has come to life, theirs so many little subtleties in the music that it brings out, seriously worth the investment.
Although I just noticed that you listen to hiphop, so if you are going to go the canalphone route you may want to look at the Ultimate ears super.fi 5's. They are the only ones that I've seen that are supposed to have strong bass.

I have those headphones and they are the best headphones I have ever had. The adapter to the regular jack is kind of big but it works great if your using it for a PC or sound system. If your planning on being mobile then these aren't for you.

I researched headphones for days and bought the ones that got the most supreme rating and I am ultra happy with them I got a pair of inner ear and a pair of outer ear here are the pairs i bought!!!
I bought both amazon.com they were cheaper then i found anywhere else....
http://www.amazon.com/Grado-80-SR80/dp/B0006DPMVS/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/104-3184475-7115916?ie=UTF8&s=musical-instruments&qid=1180740871&sr=8-2

so 2 different types of phonees I am super happy with both one for inner ear ultra portable and super high quality sound and the outer ear pair which blows your ears away the outer ear pair is so good you listen to any sound anywhere else afterwards you will want to puke!!!!!!
The green pair of v-moda headphones off used and new in amazon.com are only 30 bucks and shipped so fast that is like 10 bucks cheaper then anywhere else!!!!

It depends on your price range---if you are looking for something really high quality but pricey over-the-ear headphones, the higher end Shures and Sennhausers are the way to go.
If you are looking for a good pair of portable in-the-ear bud headphones, on the other hand (which I generally prefer since I mostly listen to music on the go), Senns, Shures and the Bose in-ear models are often too expensive for the level of quality they have. If you want good, relatively cheap in-ear headphones, the V-Moda models are by and far the best; the high end ones, which are widely reviewed to be as good as the $100+ model senns and shures, go for about $75. They are really attractive looking headphones too:

I bought the cheaper bass-booster model, which also sounds really nice, for running/biking or activities they might get damaged in:
http://www.amazon.com/V-MODA-Bass-Freq-Earbuds-Bling/dp/B000FUESSU/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2/104-5349448-6423942?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1181069823&sr=8-2
For in-ear these are the way to go; the overwhelmingly positive customer reviews bear this out. Good luck in your search

I use the Creative Labs HS-400, it's a headset (headphones with a removable mic), works great for the pc gamer. There are probably newer headphones though, however, creative labs rules the audio world!

I'm really surprised by all the terrible suggestions in this thread.. Before I suggest anything, what is your price range, are you using a headphone amp, do you prefer open or closed cans, are you going wearing them out in public, and would you sacrafice comfort for quality?

They have a 2007 iPod buyers guide, for download, in PDF format. Whether you have an iPod or whatnot, they cover the best of the best in any price range -- from the affordable to the exorbitant. Give it a look see, as well as the "Complete guide to Earphones, Parts 1-5," under the "iPod and iTunes Tutorials" section. Hope this is of help. L8rz! :icon_thum

Probably your best bet, if you can't sort the good advice from the bad advice here... Give them a budget, your preferences, and your listening situation (quiet room, loud public transportation, etc.), and they'll tell you the best cans to get. Just make sure you stick to your budget or they'll have you spending all your cash!
