So, only one post in this forum in the last two months!
Does that mean that the Donkey is officially dead?
Is there anyone else like me that is hanging on to e-mule and still finding it good for all your needs?
What is everyone else using for finding rare and hard-to-find files?
What are you using for everything else?

As far as I know eDonkey network is alive & still doing well! However, using the new BitTorrent technology to search for more files does take time away from using eDonkey at times. :)

Hi, so far I know, everything's fine with the Donkeydonk, and it has worked full blast with me since I changed my ISP, few monthes ago... some time, it works a bit slower though, but, at every instance of it, I find, after searching, that it came from either my config having changed, or from a couple of very poorly represented files, hanging without thread (and of course, using energy to get some more connections)... at the moment for instance, and only since yesterday, search is not very succesful, but I'll investigate till I find why... For instance, just at this instant, I had a look at my donkey, DL had been a bit low in speed since yesterday, and I did, 5 mn ago, remove 5 empty files which were sitting waiting for download, with 0,00 Kb since few days... that was just like throwing balast from an airship... and now the DL is again at the max of my line's capabilities.
Cheers

The old mule may be slower than hell sometimes, but I have never seen it not come through.
Judging it being "dead" by minimal postings about it on a forum is kinda jumping the gun a little bit. I have used it and it is working just fine. (emule...not edonkey.....)

Well, I just posted that last one, and went to my donkey, and, after having looked a bit, some thought came to me brain... maybe it could give an idea to someone.
In fact, it works now 100%... DL & UL at max. (since yesterday, it had been not to good).
What did I do exactly then to change it ?... In fact two things. first I've changed my server, but really, I don't believe that was the cause, since that was one I'm using quite oftens (one from Nederland), and it's working very well...
but, thinking of those 5 files I did remove, (I kept them on the side, so, I'll be able to try again and see!)... it is surprising that it could affect that badly the connections... for instance, for the search, I did, as experiment, (since yesterday), search for things I know to be very well represented: "westerns", and had 0 answer... (again, this morning)... then, I looked for also well represented "Agatha Christie"... 0 answer... "Aventure" 0 answer then "Science fiction" had only 14 answer...
But, after my changes, suddenly, the western search field filled up with 309 titles, the adventures with 218... and so on... So, I'm wondering now, if, in among those 5 files there was not some sort of tricky gadget made up to stop connections or whatever... One can find sometime, funny stuff on the net! (once, I did download some file that was, after investigations, supposed to be (but luckily after decompression only!) as big as 12 teraBytes... enough to completely fill up all HDs... of course, I did put it still compressed in the garbage!)
So, if you or some one else, can make something out of all that, good luck... but the morality seems anyway to be : "watch out and be aware of everything..."
I can't resist here the oportunity to quote the famous (in France) chinese proverb:
"O soldie' of the g'eat Empi'e, gua'dian of ou' land, watch out...
When in the mo'ning, just out of you' couch, and looking at the sun
'aising ove' the g'eat wall, if, sc'aching you' b... you do count
fou' of them... beca'efull, the ennemy is not fa'!" :icon_thum

emule is still the best source for quality dvd rips but it helps to have a membership on a good ed2k site...
