I haven't tried the new Bearshare 6.0 (and I don't plan on it), but I do use 5.x and consider it the best gnuetella/edonkey client in existence.
The only problem is, if you've ever tried to use Bitzi's magnet links (which are supposed to automatically initiate a download in your P2P client for a specific file) with Bearshare, you'll find that they don't work. This is a major annoyance, since it would be great to find high-rated files in Bitzi and then directly download a specific version you find, rather than having to check Bitzi for all the search results you get in Bearshare, one at a time.
Since it didn't seem like anyone came up with a solution to this, I came up with my own tool for generating a Bearshare-compatible link from any Bitzi magnet link. It's an HTML page where you paste in the magnet URL from any (well, hopefully any) Bitzi page and it gives you a new magnet link that Bearshare can handle.
I wrote it in Javascript. It automatically strips out the tiger tree, kzhash, and XL tokens from the magnet URL (whichever exist), since those are the tokens that Bearshare doesn't understand. Without them, the links work perfectly.
Anyway, I hope people find it useful. Here's the URL:

Let me know if you come across any bugs, and send me any links that the script doesn't properly convert.
