Ok so, here is my problem.

1.) I Download a Movie.
2.)The Copyright owner tracks it to my school
3.) my school finds my hardware address, forces me to put in my school id to get my internet back
4.)They let me off the hook because it's a first offense.
5.)I can't download anything due to such risks

Is there any way I can keep the school from tracking my Hardware address (something changeable in case I get blocked) or a way to prevent such copyright owners from tracking me

The school will not find me unless they have reason to through the notice of an outside organization.

Being that I have another 3 and a half years here, I appreciate any help.

Thanks.

I run both mac and windows on a macbook pro.

Also, future research into the tracker informs me they just used an ip address to search, but no matter what my ip is they can just trace it to my school so i don't know.

thanks

I was looking into that or peer guardian, Otherwise, I think I have a friend that can help me. I'll post my solution when I finish up In order to help anyone else.

Thank You

FYI, I use Parallels on my macbook, and they offer a text field to modify your MAC address pretty much on the fly. Of course this is only a virtual network adapter.

If your logged in with your school id then their is nothing you can do to hide that. Your best solution is to hide what you are downloading, but personally I wouldn't risk it. Just get your own internet service outside campus for the extra 20$ a month you can save yourself getting expelled.

Well you could change your MAC using something like this:
MAC Makeup (http://www.gorlani.com/publicprj/macmakeup/macmakeup.asp)

But the tracking is really done via IP, so your MAC doesn't really matter much. Using PeerGuardian will block many of the RIAA/MPAA trolls.
