Ok, so now we know that it is indeed possible to backup and distribute your HD DVD videos (and Blu-ray Discs will probably soon follow suit). But does it matter? Is there actually a demand for HD DVD video files? Do pirates care about HD DVD rips or HD video files? Let ’s take a look at some of the reasons why pirates do NOT care about HD DVD rips.. I won't be downloading HD DVD rips just for the fact that uploading the file back to ratio of 1/1 would take forever with my upload speed.
I agree with most of the points of this article with the exception of the video playback software, even if people weren't willing to buy it; they would just download it.
I'm going to stick with DVD downloads for a LONG time

Yeah I agree that even on usenet, HD DVD is not for me, just takes too long. I will download a smaller file when there is an alternative....and right now I don't think HD DVD will be the dominant format for a while.
I would not even THINK of downloading a HD DVD file on some private site like torrentbytes! It would take forever to up back...SCREW THAT!

I agree, it takes too long to dl these files. Why do i need them when dvd rips look fine on my 42 inch plasma?
When the bandwidth is there, maybe. But HD rips are the future for the higher ups in p2p...

HD DVD's would only be good if the movie/series was really really spectacular, but other than that, it would be better off anyway by downloading DVD rips as it is now then wasting time.

I would never ever take the time to download an HD DVD rip. The sheer amount of space for something that only looks marginally better than a regular DVD rip is ridiculous.

Kinda sounds like pirates do not like the new HD or Blue Ray formats anymore than they do Microsoft Vista! LOL!
Mabye it is a new strategy to fight piracy for people who make music, movies or software....make it so BAD people don't even WANT it! Of course you won't make a heck of a lot of money that way....still....you won't have to worry about your product being pirated. HA! HA!
