I was surfing the shareaza forums because i love shareaza and look what i saw that will be released in the final version!!!
NOTE: If you are unaware of what "Search Status" is, or what the issue with it is, please see the previous post about this topic.
My solution consists of two components. One changing the way Shareaza searches the network and one on how Shareaza represents the "search status".
The problem with the sidebar only solution I proposed previously is that you can't see the status if you do not have the sidebar. I have came up with a solution for this. I think it wil be best just to show the imagery rather than explaining it, so I have done some concept images.
http://anenga.snorland.com/searchstatus/nopanelbottom.png
The search status will be at the bottom of Shareaza if you do not have the search monitor open. It is small, identifable, and useful. If you rollover your cursor it will have a tooltip with information. Again, useful yet practical.
http://anenga.snorland.com/searchstatus/nopaneltop.png
Shareaza will search the network twice. I call this "Two Pass". After it searches the network twice, (searches first, then waits 5 minutes and searches again) Shareaza will stop the active search. It will also blink the search query tab until it's clicked, this is to inform the user that it has stopped searching and to either (A) Download your files, (B) Keep searching or (C) Close the window. However, Shareaza will stop the search after certain "dead time" or after a period of time where no hits are added to the queue. If for around 4 minutes Shareaza does not get any new hits added to the results, it will stop the search and claim it as "Completed".
This message is to inform you that Shareaza has stopped searching and that the results you have now are all results based on a good standard sweep of the network.
You have two choices from here. Click "Details..." to view more details about the search in a summary or click "OK" to close the search status panel and continue with managing your search results etc.
http://anenga.snorland.com/searchstatus/nopaneltopdetails.png
Details gives more information about the search query and basic information to the user on why Shareaza has stopped their query and how to start it up again. I did this image quickly, so it probably can be worked on further.
moved the Search status bar for the Search monitor to the "Results" area. It seems more appropriate, as people recommended in the past. I also added "Search Method". With this idea, you can choose which method you want to use to search. The default method is "Standard" which uses a two-pass searching. Other methods I came up with are: "Thourough" (SP) which searches the network three times at different times. Another is "Keep Searching" or "Infinite" which does not stop searching the network, and probably would re-query every 45 minutes or so. This would be a method you'd use if you keep Shareaza on overnight.
Awesome right? What do you think? I love it!!

i'm always surprised what a fucking good program this is... but as long as it goes with gnutella (don't think G2 will make a difference), it's a huge waste...
a multi-network shareaza client using edonkey/emule + fasttrack/rapidroad + soulseek... now that would amaze me.
hey, one can at least dream... :green6
still: emule is damn close to being a perfect p2p client. but the dependence on unique servers makes it really difficult to find (and especially GET) any rare files...

i love this program so much. i would like to see a chat room in it, they already have an instant message like feature already so why not have a chat service?

The last I heard (this was a month ago so it may have fizzled), Shareaza was going to link to irc.p2pchat.org for a chat room. It may still be in the future since the #shareaza room is locked (that is what happens to all would-be main chat channels). Let's hope it is still a possibility!

glad you all liked the post. I use this program all day and there are more and more people on it everyday. Actually, G2 makes a big difference if you dont believe me connect to some G2 hubs and see how fast you will get search results and how many, YOU will be AMAZED at the findings. Believe me dont underestimate G2. Another thing, Mike(producer of Shareaza) will in fact take some of these things i posted and put it on the final version of shareaza when it comes out in a week or so. Another thing, I am part of the Shareaza forums and i have found out that he wil not make that full thing(what i posted) but will use the ideas created by ANENNGA and will put it on the final version. Man this idea on the serch results is awesome right? He also said that there will Be some NEW AND EXCITING FEATURES on the FINAL version of shareaza and i cant wait to see what they are.:devil

Make sure you have the latest build of Shareaza 1.7, quite a few bugs since then, but not final just yet. The final is due in about a week, till then, here's a magnet to 1.7.0.7.

Ok i know why you cant connect to G2 hubs. GO to view and discovery( F9) and you will see a list of things, right click on anything and press ADD SOURCE, than copy this in http://www.shareaza.com/cache/cache.aspx now reconnect and you will be able to connect to G2 hubs. Glad to help.:devil

the gnutella network from past and present look like it will be the only network to survive from the riaa all the programs that connect to gnutella are not owned by big name companies like napster. so i think gnutella will be the only p2p network left someday.

These two ideas have allready been tried and they hurt the network because they create too much traffic. Researching for files just to search makes know sense. Why because if someone leaves it on all night and finds a file chances are the next time they come back and try to download it the user wont be online.
As for searching twice the time interval is too short a persons horizon on gnutella would not change that much in five minutes or even longer than that so a person would just be the same hosts over again. And there is also the same problem as i mentioned with the other idea..

Note if anyone wants to connect to just "gnutella2" then just go into settings and under network/network uncheck the "gnutella1" protocols and then youll only be on "gnutella2"

Thanks for the reply brogster and im glad to help, as for you Sephiroth, as i said SOME of these things will be taken into consideration by mike and yes what you said probably will not be put into shareaza but the others might. Another thing, NOBODY UNCHECK THE GNUTELLA1 boxes under networks as sephiroth said because that will not work just do what i posted and copy that link into discoveries and reconnect and you will be able to connect to G2 hubs and G1 ultrapeers just fine. I think i know what im doing Sephiroth but thanks for posting that but it wont work.

Is does work.. The instructions i posted connect you to "gnutella2" only which is what i said not both networks. Why i posted it is because some people might want to just see "gnutella2" in action than just mainly gnutella. Of course since there is only about 1000-2000 people using "gnutella2" some searches and etc. wont as great as if gnutella was also being searched and downloaded from.

You are very correct but setting it so that you can only connect to G2 hubs when you cant connect to them at all is no point. Another thing i had that problem, and i tried your solution and it DIDNT WORK because there is no point of setting it only to G2 hubs if you dont have the Shareaza GWEBCACHE in the Discovery section. It might have been lost after installation as in many cases and that is why people cant connect. UGH!! lol:devil

I think you should reread ero's posts. they said they can connect to gnutella hosts but not "gnutella2" "hubs." So it wasnt a connection problem like you thought it was they wanted to connect to just "gnutella2."
The only reason why it would work for other people is because the shareaza gnuwebcache is the main one that most shareaza user use so they have a higher chance of connecting to "gnutella2" which is why it happens.
