Typically there are two classifications for Usenet applications, one is called a newsreader, and the other a newsgrabber, also known as a newsleecher.
Most newsreaders were typically made just for browsing, and reading in newsgroups, and not the greatest for doing multiple connections and downloads, and that is where the grabber/leechers come in, with their multi connection download abilities.
Finding one place with all the information needed on these programs is not easy, most sites are outdated with information since Usenet is not the same world as Peer2Peer, not as widely publicized.
