I tried to split the net connection coming into my room, after finally getting it to work it now drops the connection to the both the pc and the 360 seemingly every 30 second to a minute then I have to do a repair connection in windows or reboot the xbox to get net back. I currently have the modem with cat5 running to my room which runs into another router which breaks off into the pc and 360. What have I done wrong?

I'm just going to buy a hub to solve the problem. I cant seem to get the router to behave nicely as a hub so I'll just buy a hub today.

ok let me get this straight.
You have the cat5 cable coming off the cable modem into your room which then connects to the router (is this the first and only router?) You connect the cable to the internet slot in the router and then have one cable going to your computer and one going to the 360?
If you have more than one router then you have to make sure the second router has a different ip address from the first. Example: 1st router 192.168.1.1 and 2nd router 192.168.2.1

I tried that and it still fails to work. When I change the address to the second one it wont even let me connect to the net at all :( I got a hub now though and everything works just peachy

ok, that's cool. Did you take the router back? What kind was it?
