Soon I will be moving out, and I'm giving my desktop to my dad. I want one of the hard drives inside of it, so I want to get an external enclosure for it.

I know NOTHING about these.

This is the drive I have: WD 200 GB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822144129)

Krell recommended these (http://www.amselectronics.com/Products/VenusSeries/Venus_ds/Venus_ds.html) in a previous thread.

This is an entirely new world to me, and any input would be greatly appreciated.

AMS as Krell rec'd are very nice. Whatever you go with, make sure it's aluminum. A lot of the cheaper enclosures will be mostly plastic, which doesn't help to dissolve heat at all.

The AMS has a big assed fan in the bottem of it, the other don't.

My fans have never burned out, after 2 years.

If they did stop, AMS sells replacement fan units.

I have one of these. Got a 250 gig drive in it. It has a cooling fan too. I've never had any problems with it in two years.

Thanks guys.

I'm going to head out to Microcenter later, or tomorrow.

Yeup, the cooling is the biggest factor with those enclosures. Having one that will stand on its side is a good option too.
