TVUPlayer, that wonderful little creation by Paul Shen, the CEO of TVU Networks, is facing a lot of criticism these day from major TV networks and others who insist it violates current copyright laws.
Unlike YouTube, which legal experts argue is protected under the safe harbor provision of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, TVU Networks has a difficult time arguing that it doesn't engage in copyright infringement. As John Stickevers, a Boston copyright attorney notes, "The safe harbor provision doesn't apply if the service provider has actual knowledge of the infringing activity on the system."
