-> Client = utorrent
-> Servicepack 2xp
-> Connected to internet threw modem no router no firewalls no NOTHING
-> All the software you are running = hmmm mostly games and unimportant programs like msn
-> What you have done so far to try and resolve the problem = IVE READ TUNS of posts on how to fix rates
All have failed
Ok here goes im with rogers and i have highspeed extreme
When i first got the sevrice my downloads were good then i stopd downloading for a couple months. When i came back my downloads had gone to shit. Im talking like 5-10 kbs. The weird thing is itll jump upto like 50-70 kbs then itll slowly go down to 5-10kbs. The torrents im downloading are running on good trackers and there are many seeds. No 1 can seem to figure out wat that problem is. SO i turn to u guys :|. Im about ready to cancel my internet from rogers. Some of the things ive tried are: Uninstalling firewalls disabling windows firewall changing default port.
EVERYTHING in this guide
http://www.zeropaid.com/bbs/bittorrent/t-improve-bittorrent-download-speeds-17671.html
Ive also tried every option of encrytion avaible in case it is rogers blocking me. Cuz it seems to start off fast then slowly drops to 5-10kbs.
Nothing seems to work.
I dont kno what else i can possibly tell u
O i tried downloading on my laptop as well....so its most likely not program related. Due to the fact that i hardly have any programs on my laptop
Ive tried resetting my modem as well. This was unsuccessfull
ive tried EVERY BT CLIENT I KNO OF ir bit commet bitlord azerus utorrent bittornado
Im about to fal over and cry lol, im fed up with this I beg u to help me i BEG U :(.
p.s my upload rate is somtimes o-3 kbs evan thoo i have it set to 72 or unlimited
If any more info is needed jus ask
Thanks in advance

Your ISP is watching what programs people access their services with and decided to cap BT.
Just my guess.

When you click to download a torrent. Rename the extension of the .torrent to aces23555, and open it up using your bt client.and make it file associate with it. Also dont use ports that are default like 6881.. Use something higher, like 25,000-25005 and make sure your modem or firewall has the port forwarded and open. See how the speeds turn out doing that, and your being packetshapped through rogers. If you can get SBC dsl. Do it =) Thats what i have, and i get awesome speeds.

Ya thats what i thout, but the thing is all my other friends that have rogers are not having the same problems as me. I seem to be the only one with this problem...I cant figure out why. If it was rogers, then wouldnt my other friends that use rogers in my area be affected too? They download with BT, and get good speeds :|.

I dont have any firewalls or routers on at all, and my port is set to 16881 as the forum i posted suggested.
Im going to try and rename the torrent tonite, i cant right now cuz im at school.O and i use the encrytion option in utorrent, wouldnt this block rogers from seeing that the connection is for BT? BTW i woke up dismorning and both my cable and internet were cut out...lol gg rogers. What is SBC dsl....Ive never heard of this ISP. Cuz ya if this problem persists im going to change ISP.
Thank u both for your response, any more help would be greatly appreicated

If your on private bit torrent sites, speeds would be alot better then public sites. Check to see where your friend are downloading from and where your downloading from. Plus more seeds then leechers, speeds would be better then more leechers then seeds.

Okay, for one thing is that torrentspy has a high leecher to seed ratio that would make your downloads crawl. What happens is you will get good speeds as long as leechers stay and seed, but once they get it, they may quit the torrent and speeds will drop for you. Hang out for while and try to get into a private torrent site where everyone doesnt cap their upload speed and people seed 10:1

Did you go over to www.dslreports.com and do a speed test? Check to see if its your line, since your browser is slow.

ok try this. Change your BT clients ports to 1720. And then download a torrent and see what that does for you.
