CloneCD is a powerful CD-Copy program. It writes in Raw mode, which allows it to have total control on the data written. Therefore, it will produce real 1:1 copies of your CDs. Because of its special operation, it requires a CD-Writer which is capable of writing in this mode.
Changes in Current Version:
Added Virtual CloneDrive
Added Virtual CloneDrive support in CloneCDTray
Added Virtual CloneDrive shell extension
Fixed false alarm in ElbyCheck (Windows 2000/XP)
Fixed Access Violation in ElbyCDIO.dll
Increased Sense Buffer in ElbyCDIO.dll (Windows 9X/ME)
ElbyCDIO.dll is now a shared library in Windows\System directory
Many minor bug fixes
Many minor cosmetic improvements

hey, just wanted to say there was a new version released on 2002 12 02, version 4.2.0.1
It fixed some major bugs and added some much needed support for newer copywrighted games, heres the full list of bug fixes:
Added Emulation of weak sectors
Added Emulation of Digital Signatures in Subchannel Data
With weak sector emulation and Digital Signature emulation you don't need to care about the capabilities of your reader or writer!
Copy protections with weak sectors can be copied with any writer!
Copy protections using subchannel data can be copied with any reader! There is no need for reading subchannel data anymore!
Added display of weak sectors in Logbook
Added "Protected PC Game" Emulation profile
Majorly improved Hide CDR Media
Added Emulation of weak sectors to Hide CDR Media
Added Emulation of digital signature in subchannel data to Hide CDR Media
Pop-up help no longer uses HTML Help, because it seems to be broken in Windows XP SP1 and Windows 2000 SP3
Internet Explorer no longer needs to be installed for Pop-up help to work
Removed "TOC Adjustment" Dialog which only confused users of TwinPeaks. CloneCD will now decide what to do automatically
Added support for foreign codepages in Virtual CloneDrive settings in CloneCDTray
Changed Virtual CloneDrive to cause less conflicts with broken SCSI Adapter drivers
Fixed bug in Virtual CloneDrive which caused a conflict with Intel Application Acceleration Drivers (or other 3rd party drivers)
Reduced Memory fragmentation in Virtual CloneDrive (Windows NT/2000/XP)
Reduced Memory and CPU use in ElbyCDIO (Windows 2000/XP)
Hopefully solved possible hang after operation on Windows 9X/ME
Changed Audio profile to not read subchannel data anymore. This speeds up reading with many drives and might give better results
Updated language files: Russian, Catalan, Czech, Greek, French, Macedonian, Norge, Polish, Turkish and others
Added ElbyCDIO Control program to set ElbyCDIO default behaviour
(btw, i use this program to copy EVERYTHING, yes its worth it, PM me if you need a registration code....)
The newest version can be downloaded at http://www.elby.ch/english/products/clone_cd/download.html

I love clone CD, I used it just today, but my experiences with 4 have not been as reliable as with v3, so . . is anyone having problems with, or successes with, v4 ?
Thx again you big Sockfulloflove
.
clone cd suddenly bloated up with the newer versions doesn't seem as good.
i have read complaints about the newer versions on other forums. have not used the current version though.
blindwrite is cool and I use that among some others burning apps.

I love clonecd, I've used it since i got my computer, as for nero I love it too. Those are the two burning/cloning programs i use. They are the best and get the job done. =D

dealie, i dissagree, why waste my time downloading a possibly fake or damaged file and then burn it, when i could take the one in my hand from friend and make a copie in 5min that i KNOW works
its also the fastest burning program ive used

well basicly clone cd has the reputation as being the best as far as cloning is concerned and copying protected discs. ( used along with cloney to detect the type of copy protection)
I just mentioned the newer versions apparently give some people problems which was not a previous problem.
It's a safe statement to say Nero and Clone Cd are very, very good, if not the best.

i also think that it's safe to quote you and saw....yea!
CloneCD and Nero are what i use, both are up to date versions.
Plus i got NeroVision and that's just awesome for make VCD's.
I fin Nero to be easy to use, with the step byb step wizard, everyone should give it a go!

you miss my point, generally with programs, it takes at least overnight to download
most of the programs i want i can get on cd, so i can just make a simple copy, i would rather do that in 5min than waste a whole bunch of bandwidth and have it take a long time
im sure you can get a lot of programs off p2p, i just dont have the need, i just copy friends

I am going to try Clone CD. Everyone says Virtual CD software sucks but I really haven't had a problem putting CDs on my harddrive except one for some unknown reason. (It was an older game too, which is the weirdest part).
Can someone give me some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism on why you don't like Virtual CD software? (As in not "It blows ass" or "It sucks balls")

I'm not against virtual drives , just noted that some folks have had problems with their drives after using virtual drive software. Not really sure why but it I just see it mentioned a lot. I myself never had problems and installed and uninstalled virtual drives a few times.
give it a go and clone cd is really for copying and burning cd's it just added the feature of virtual drives recently but you don't need to use it if you don't need it. :-)

I use EasyCD 5.03 and CloneCD 4.2.0.2 with ClonyXL. Works great for me!
I know numerous people that have had problems with virtual/emulated drives so I think I'll stay away from that feature.

the virtual drive was just improved in the latest version, but i dont know if it will help it, frankly i dont have the hd space or the need to run a virtual drive
i also use ECC and clonyxl with clone cd
i have a question nasrules, where did you find your english version of clony? i have a very poorly written version where half the options are in another language

on the emulationing of drives, I use DaemonTools (http://www.daemon-tools.com/) this app works wonders, I play StarCraft:Boodwars with my friend all the time. So I always make backup copies of the orignal so it doesn't get scratch too bad.
I run through 2 backup disks already...But now that I have DaemonTools, I just make an image, and open the image with daemontools and no more CD backuping!
Great and easy to use app.
