Well the only point for using acronyms is so the average joe doesnt go surf to the site. Just look at demonoid, since now its basically a public tracker, they have to upgrade their hardware almost every other month because of all the traffic they get from the average joe.

By using acronyms, its not for the safety of the community, thats just urban legend, seriously if you know what the address is, obviously anyone else can figure it out to, gotta love google.

Its mainly so the site doesn't get slammed with 50,000 hits every 10 minutes.
